Purchase Experience

Very Bad - TATA Dealers have earned an enviable reputation of not being
friendly with their customers & they work overtime to retain the
reputation. I’ve had my share of woes, whereby I was EDUCATED that CNG fitment
is approved by TATA Motors and my warranty shall remain valid along with the warranty
of Vehicle. I learnt, after my purchases that CNG for 1.2 L XETA has not even
been approved by Delhi Transport Authority leave alone the TATA Motors warranty.

However, TATA Motors claims that this shall soon be sorted
out & they are leaving no stone unturned to give their Customers CNG
fitment facility (I’m not sure how many stones remain and whats the time-frame
for turning all stones on right direction)

Initial Cost of Ownership:

Excellent - which other company shall give you Car @
3.23 Lacs on road in Delhi (including extended warranty, Road Tax, Insurance, Parking
Charges and all other expenses with mud cover and floor mats for free)– given discount
of Rs. 23,000/-with Power Steering, Front Power Windows, Central Lock, Rear defogger,
bumper painted body etc. Whole lot of goodies at great price.

Interiors &
Comfort

Great – simply super, lots of space and beige colour
interiors gives you feel of a BIG car, which is unmatched in this segment. Dashboard
looks refreshing and boasts of better finish that ever before. Seating is
perfect especially for long drives; you’ll never get tired feeling of driving this
Car on long routes. Not to mention the freebies like Central Locking, Power
Steering, Front power windows, rear defogger, Air Conditioner + Heater, body
coloured bumpers etc. that comes along with this Version of Car.

However, there is a let down on the storage space aspect in
the Vehicle, only on this account, the Car looks unpractical.

Ride &
Performance

Simply superb - Indica Xeta
is the answer to Delhi governments answer to mismanagement on roads
including bad flexible roads,  potholes.
She works like magic even in the traffic ridden Delhi with ease and have
answers to all the problems that you might have driving on such roads. The ride
is great with a few exceptions that Car drags a bit on lower speeds and often threatens
to give you a rough feel, though it becomes more than perfect when driven on
30+ speeds.

Mileage with AC has been variable from lows of 11.2 to 12.5 Kmpl
in City, which is pretty acceptable to me as an individual.

Comparisons

I have owned Maruti 800 / Alto 1.1 / Santro Xing but this
Vehicle is in different class of its own and by all stretch of imagination,
this one wins THUMBS UP…

Overall

Go buy it…hope u find better dealer that Autoli

Now, by reading your comments I am shifting my focus to purchase Xeta warlier it was santro. Now what is your opinion with CNG?

I had also purchased XETA from M/S Autolink in Feb 2006. Autolink is realy worst dealer. They do not co-operate. They sold me the car which had a reading of 272KM. Car's window & AC were defective. Car Insurance received by me with a wrong address, car RC has some other address. There staff is very rude to customers (after selling the product).

Now I am planning to go for TATA-Indigo, but I need to find a good dealer in Delhi (other than AUTO LINK)

I test drove the Xeta GLS and felt that it was very comfortable. The reviews that i have heard are about the fuel efficeincy of the Xeta GLS. It is said to give only 8-9 kmpl and the tyre width is also small. I would like to know if this car is good to buy. This is my first car so i would like to take precautions before trying out something.

Its a great car to buy and gives me a mileage of 12+ with AC in Delhi traffic conditions....

Don't worry about tyre size, they are fine with the vehicle and you can go ahead with this buy & as per me, you shall not regret the decision.

    Take care and drive safe

Thanks a ton for your feedback. Its just that the maintenance part and brand name was not very enterprising amongst the public.

  12. on 25 Jul, 2007 at 02:15 PM Great Works

    Denis

An initial level feedback from me maintenance is - its comparable to Maruti products (I've used now TATA diesel Indica and have host of Maruti cars @ home).... so not to worry on this aspect.

As for the "Brand" - yes that can be a psychological barrier - depending on individual... I felt like spending money on the Car rather than on brand that where the final decision to buy Xeta was arrived at...

Hope you decide whats best for you - Xeta as a product is though good enough....

I have already reached to buy it now, reading comments after deciding for it. I am using Indica Diesel 2002 model. Now the maintainenace is eating up my pocket like anything so i have decided to go for a petrol car. The sitting comfort in Indica is better than other cars in this segment, so why not XETA !!! Despite mixed views i have decided and will be taking delivery of my Indica xeta dls tomorrow. Wish me Luck..!!!

I have purchased the car in 2006. No regrets. Mileage about 14-15 Kms with AC on highway. Running 8,000KMs.

    Hello Great Works

I am fully agreed with u about the TATA Dealers they should learn about the proper way to sale a product from Maruti dealers specially form PASCO at Peeragarhi, Delhi. The salesman at Pasco always insist a cup of tea/coffee and provide a test drive with smile. Can u explain the difrence you feel with XETA in comparison of other cars. I am also interested in XETA 1.2 GLG but I want to know more about the maintenance, running cost, resale value.

uptil now in there any one got high maintainance for indica xeta???

  17. on 10 Sep, 2007 at 06:38 PM avinash (Mumbai)

Good impartial review, encourages me to go for XETA. I will avoid CNG fitment, no matter which brand of car I buy. Technically, with computer controlled engine, I know that switching fuels is no joke. This is Indya: you'll get whatever you ask for. So better dont ask for something you shouldnt get. Get the picture? If I want fuel economy then I will go for a scooty ;-)

I am planning to buy a car in the range of 3.25 to 3.75. Can any one compare between santro xing XL and Indica Xeta.

Thanks for the review. Informative...I wonder why the dealers always turn out bad. Let me know how much it will affect after sales support.

Presently I own Maruti and interested in buying car, evaluating Xeta also. Can any one suggest me the performence of this car if converted in LPG. My present car is perfectly o.k. with LPG.

Good review. I have purchased a XETA and awaiting delivery in 1st week of Jan. My two cents :: XETA is a bit less fuel efficient simply becoz of the 1400 cc engine and the gross weight of the car which is 200 kgs heavier than most cars in this segment. This is becoz the steel used is much tougher and heavier (TISCO naturally) than Maruti cars.Remember, it's the steel which is between you and death in case of an accident. Most bad reviews about XETA are of the CNG variant. Petrol is absolutely OK

is it feasible to drive xeta using CNG or LPG? Which one suits it best among the two?

  25. on 28 Jan, 2008 at 10:38 PM Rajarshi Kataki

I surprise about one thing.Tata Indica Xeta cost much less then Chwvy UVA,Swift,Gatz etc, Then people should have go for Tata Xeta being less priced comfortable car

  26. on 11 Aug, 2008 at 07:14 AM Arun

I am Amazed on how good the car can be yet the after sales & dealer behavior has been reported to be extremely bad. This is not a single case in isolation. can somebody update me on the CNG FITMENT CLEARANCE FOR DELHI RTO......
