    The absence of front grills was the only problem with matiz. The makers of spark can't solve this. The price is some higher. I think it is better to get the standard edition at 2.75 lakhs.

    I test drove a SPARK LS in Chennai. There seems to be a feature with the accelerator pedal and produces unexpected fluttering trying to push against the foot of the driver. Happened on both the demo cars at the showroom. Me, my cousin and my brother-in-law who works as a car company QA engineer, all felt the problem with SPARK LS and LT. Anyone else felt this during your test drive?

    I think in exterior looks no other car on date is capable of competing with Spark, not even the old Matiz. You can juxtapose them and compare. I have done it and spark stands apart. On road, people can't stop saying "Wow! what a car". I think in comparison, santro, zen, alto, wagon R, all have boxy look and certinaly doesn't have that oomph factor that SPARK has. If you drop Spark because of its looks and style, then I think you don't have the taste of a stylish car. Go for it!

    Hey Santosh, I think I used to feel the kind of fluttering that you are talking about initially in the first few weeks of my buying Spark. But now everything seems fine. In fact I never thought that was a problem. It appeared that that kind of thing was happening whenever I released the accelerator pedal with a jerk. anyways, that kind of thing I don't see any more.

    I am really surprised that 171 people have liked this review. It compares Matiz with Spark and that too without facts and figures. If at all you are doing a comparision, please do it with the cars that are currently available to the customers. So what if Matiz was a better car than Spark. Does it mean that I should buy a Santro or a Zen? Makes me wonder if people like a review just for the heck of it or they just want to demote SPARK?

    What a dumb review man! Looks are totally subjective
    and i think the spark is deft. better lookin than matiz. And what "ugly european styling" r u talking about. Do u even have the faintest idea about automobile design and the sheer number of parameters goin into it. The new car is a lot better in safety and fit n finish.

    no! no! no! not at all..The Europeans are trying forcefully to implement their aesthetic ideas on the third world..I would say matiz is the best and spark really sucks..!!     The Mtech engine was much more superior when technical specifications are concerned; in Spark they have adopted another engine..its smooth even when he drive the car at 90 or 100 kms per hour. But it lacks additional valves and I would say wagon R's engine is much more superior. Style wise Spark simply lacks..Its a Muscular Lady...GM sucks US sucks

It is pretty than all other Bourvita Babies like santro wagon r etc in style. But what i am saying is it lost the greatness of Matiz in style, GM has disappointed us all.     Do u mean Zen Estilo?? Its safety standards are not up to the mark, you cant drive this car at high speeds and will feel vibration at 85-90; but spark is much more superior and can comfortably drive at 90 km/h. Spark promises you the same millage and when it comes to comfort, spark simply rockzz.. Finally about style you have to decide as its purely personal choice. I dont have much information about space..

    evry car got -ve pnts. any car in dis segment like santro estilo wagonr or spark is not comfrtable for 3 in da rear seat.[i10 compartively better. it is wider]spark is better in looks smooth engine tubeles tyres gas suspension n beter fuel eff dan santro. santro better pickup n comfrtble 4 tall people in rear seat[taller at back side] but closing model but cheaper dan spark. i tuk spark last week. if only thes 2 cars ur options den go 4 spark or i10. strictly for 5 den swift or getz or aveo uv

    i am totally agree with chaiu, spark is better in this segment. very smooth engine and class suspension. looks.... atleast i like it. well i10 definitely better interiors but what u think about fuel efficiency? santro is giving around 12 in city what you think i10 will give you? less than santro i guess coz engine is same santro engine, bhp increased, car is heavy than santro... avg. will be less than santro. I could go for i10 cuz interiors are too good but i picked spark coz its better.

    and also i want to add one thing abut reviews here. anyone can rate his review higher here. this is a serious problem. just clicked on this review is helpful for me .. yes .. clicked yes n no. of people lked increasing. anyone can refresh the page and rate his review higher. as i am a spark user now, i think this review is totally worthless. Looks does matters and look of spark is too good far better than wagon-r, zen estilo and Santro (Its too old now).

    spark is superior as far as suspension, fit and finish, comfort are concerned...but is simply lacks looks..Its simply a muscular lady..Its too small for 5 people..so it cant be compared with i10 or even estillo or santro...Stupid designers make ugly monsters...I pity you spark. If someone purchased spark, they are bound to describe the plus points only... Let me clear it once again, spark is a great car for 2 people, but it is an ugly creation when compared to Matiz...Korea wins the westernmind

    I am evaluating small cars at the moment. i test drove spark, santro, Wagon R, Estilo and Indica petrol. Without thinking Estilo looks odd, driving is crab. Indica petrol xeta is great pleasure and power but maintainance and milage - TATA need to go one step more.
    Santro is outdated - they should close it with i10 on road.
    Wagon R and Spark are great driving pleasure, cost is appropriate as well. i10 need to be cheaper by 50,000... what about resale value? Wagon R scores here i think..views??

    I booked a spark the base model and after three months of waiting and extremely poor response of the staff of the showroom (Regent) and the company officials i finally paid more to upgrade to PS model as i was constantly told the base model will get delayed. The Manager of GM told me that since he has so many clients complaining about late deliveries he cannot always remember my case. Very bad experience!!!

    Spark is created in an entirely different platform and almost all components are different from Matiz. But GM has promised their service support for Matiz. so you may get the spares from GM showroom. But across India people are complaining of the poor service support of GM.

    Can anyone tell me why Stupid US and UK companies dont introduce their latest models in India? The answer is simple and they still think that India is a country of barbarians. Japanese companies are still better.

    Why I am supporting Korean Technology? Still there is a point. Korea has won the world's heart. They give us technically more superior products with more features than their nearest Japanese competitors. LG, Samsung, Hundai...

    What I am trying to say is Spark is a good car in all other aspects except it looks. Matiz is far more superior in style; but may be not in fit and finish coz the car has come to our market many years ago. US companies just lack the aesthetic sense.

    i bought spark in the month of Oct06. it is a very comfortable car as compaired to santro and wagon-R. it is wider than wagon-R and Estilo. In city i get average of 12-13 without 1st service. on 26 i went to mathura n Agra with my family.drive was very smooth n i got an average of 17-18kmpl and thats wothout any servicing. after 1st service average will go up. guys go for spark. it looks small from out and very spacious from inside. i am 5.11 and can sit very comfrotabily inside. thumps-up 4 GM

    If you see Topgear web site,the most respected in Europe,Spark is A CHEAP AND CHEAP LOOKING car.This clearly indicates which segments of customers are buying it in Europe.Unfortunately in India this car is slotted as a premium hatch by over pricing despite it actually being a cheap and cheap looking car as given in Topgear web site

    HEY SANTOSH...
    there is a technical reason for wat u observed..when we press the accelerator more fuel is injected n if u do that with clutch pedal pressed there is wastage of fuel hence low mileage...it is deliberately done by the company..
    NIPUN talk of indian buyers.ny european..european cars hv diff standrds which indian cars do nt match..people here are loving spark n there is a reason 4 it as it is the best in its segment in evry point of view...

    There is a wide difference in choosing a car in India when compared to Europe and US. In Europe and US they buy a car only after closely examining the technical specification and drive. But unfortunately in India people are after passions. If Sharuk Khan asks them to buy a car they would definitely buy it. My only concern is you buy the most advanced technology car after driving it. You also look for service and the credibility of the company. Just dont go after company names; as many....

    companies are cheating us. For example When ford came to India the first time they have introduced a model which was using 15 years back technology in US. Same is true with Toyota. They think that India is not capable enough to adopt new technology.

    Second thing, we Indians had a beautiful aesthetic sense. Our vehicles were of great shape. But now European styling is imposed upon us. Some muscles and bulges here and there. They are all ugly. (anyway its a personal view point)

    Matiz was the car which I loved most by its shape. Spark is the one which is most comfortable and easy to drive and when it comes to shape it is terribly disappointing.. Even there was a magic in the name Matiz..Spark is a trans gender and it is priced high. GM is not an Indian friendly company and they produce ugly monsters like aveo etc.. These types of aesthetic sense comes only from an American diseased mind.

    Last but not the least.. Alto and Spark are beyond comparison and Spark

    I own spark for 6 months. The car looks small from front,sides, but big from back and more spacious inside than Alto. VeryVeryVery good suspension.You can drive @25 Km/Hr in 5th Gear. Mileage I am getting in NON-highways is 13 with AC. Very stable in 100 Km/hr. I drove at 110 km/hr sped maximum

    Spark is the most beautiful and cute car available in Indian market in its segment and also cost wise attractive these days as this 1000 cc comfortable car with more features than Alto cost only that much with 3 year warranty and cashless ownership.     GM has to introduce its new models in India, apart from that they also keep their promise the give service background to Matiz. Matiz is a design marvel...Its just beyond all comparisons..when it comes to design. This is my only point. Spark is far ahead of altno or santro..no doubt about it. Yes it is stable at 95 kms/hr, i hv tested...but it is a muscular lady...neither male nor female..

    And as u mentioned you have reviewed the car in its every aspects... well I dont find anything else den just looks.
    Again you are saying Spark is far ahead of Alto n Santro n very stable.. for ur kind information I tested it at 140kmph n car was stable. N at 20 on 4th gear..no jerk even i tried 5th without any jerk!

    To me .. Ride & Handling ..Spark is better den other cars of small segment.
    High speed... Low Speed... Interiors.. Comfort.. everything is just perfect! Moreover, Mileage... best in class... though mileage depends on Driving conditions & habits but yes I am getting very good mileage ..better than what I was getting from Santro & Wagon-r.
    The only minus point of Spark.. Service is not available in small towns.. Service?? Maruti beats everyone but THINK MARUTI IS IN D BUSINESS SINCE.... N G.M.?

    Sparks shape sucks..old matiz for 1000 times better. THis car is not al all confertable for the back sit riders. Its price is very high if you compare with Tata Indica , you will feel you lost your money.Indica is best bet for those who want comfert ,safety , look & cost effective ,only minus is it has little lower average butr then you can save almost 40 /50 K then other cars ,plus the space it offers is only comparable with Santro & Swift .

I like the looks of spark dats y I bought it and as far as ride & handling is concern Spark beats other cars. Xeta is something else but now not much differece in the pricing man. I would rate Spark True Value For Money now!

    Mr. Rajiv,if you kindly read all the entries I have made you would never say like this. Spark is good even in looks when compared to other cars in the small segment. That is why i brought a spark. But I do agree 100% with Hemanth who says Matiz was 1000 times looks better than spark. Europeans and Americans do only have brain; they don't have a heart. When compared with matiz, spark looks poor. Then the high pricing. Then comes another thing, lack of space; especially in the backseats..

    Thats what I asked guys... Nothing in review and still review rating is great, No pros n only cons looks... well personal matter.

    I am using this Gem and Spark is the best as comapre to Wagon-r, Estilo & Santro... Alto is no way near and still Few guys use to say Spark took 15.19 secs in 20 to 80kmph and Alto took 15 secs. ..haha .19 secs say bhai ka BRONZE medal miss ho jata hai. 63 ps v/s 47 ps.. No comparision:)

    Gud feeling while u drive , Smooth engine , No Noise , No jerk even if u drive at 20 in 5th Gear..( Though i dont know the funda of Less Valves or more )..
    Designs looks gud to me..Compact n Stylish
    About Pricing and Features ,,its stand ahead of the competetion ...
    Few of my friends having Spark are enjoying it..though they feel After sales service is not as good as Maruti..
    A gud Car at such price.

    sorry to ask you where have u got these comments from. If a company like GM does that they can never come out of the recession hit market and they could not have been no.1 for 75 years. buying a Spark is money well spent. spares are not expansive and maintenance is very low. Here I challange everybody who is against the performance of this little chevy.....take it to 135kmph and also zen, wagon r and even A-star.....u will come to know the difference. u will say...Kudos - chevy

    Read in full. I have driven all 3 cars and the road grip is tremendous in spark. Wagor-r is actually a milk van and Santro is good, but its engine is not as good as Spark. Sanros problem is its suspension and speed needs to be pumped once it crosses 110. Leave apart Wagon-R. Old model Zen if been comapred with Spark then there cud be something to discuss, but marutis wheel balancing after a 100 kms drive sucks.

    Spark is not a good performer and specially very Poor in driver seating and its bad, Tommy shaped dash board always disturbs your legs and knees while u drive and using clutch and brake. so Spark can be said good in terms of look otherwise overall sitting arrangement is totally non-relaxable. So first take a carefull test drive and u will find it a poor choice, so definately go 4 Hyundai Santro Xing with overall mileage of 16 km (City) & 20 km in Highway & best smooth drive & comfort in class.

    buy only advance 16valve engine like pc P4 advance than Pii processos . maruti zen/wagon-r has 16valve (4valves per cylender) even spark/i10 n all have old 8/12valves per cylender. benchmark-honda city.vtec has 16valve. more over at 2010 only 16valve engine fit to run like cityZX has 8valves discontinued. don;t buy spark/uva/xink/i10/logan/city.zx/old maruti.800/old gets/maruti dzire petrol/omni/any skoda/xeta/marina etc

    I read this review half way through, found most comments about looks and comfort. I just wanted to know which car in these four (santro, spark, alto and a-star) has better transmission, driveablity, gear shift etc. I'm currently using m-800 and wanted to upgrade.
    I got a chance to test drive spark, the engine is very responsive but the gear shift was li'l hard and uncomfortable when compared to santro. Not sure if it was a problem in the test drive car or its d same in new.

    The interiors is good and the plastic quality was ok. Heard its loaded with gas shock absorbers for all 4 wheels. But lot of noise was coming out while i drove over bumpy roads. Anyone who owns spark, please comment on this. Kindly advice which one is best choice. Thank you very much for your time.

    I am bought Spark LS in 2007. I find that it has good luxury as compared to other cars of the same category. Viz., Tubeless tyre, Electronic fuel injection, Mileage is extremely good + much more spacious.
