I tried many cars before buying this car. The car gives a very commanding view of the road, you sit high, getting in and out is a pleasure, space and nooks and cranies added by the company are fantatsic.

The pickup is great and its like flying a plane on chaotic indian roads - smooth and comfortable.

Have been driving around in Gurgaon and get an average of 12- 13 km/ liter on MG Road. Oh an I love its ability to corner

Very interesting. Which cars did you try out before deciding on this one? And now that the diesel has come out what do you think about that?

  2. on 18 Jul, 2007 at 10:27 PM Sandeep Vohra (Gurgaon)

Hi. I tried Verna, City, Fiesta, Aveo and Baleno (old). Found them to be either outdated, cramped or too low with poor visibility of the road. Esteem (my old car) was no match to this either. Hence found this car to be true value for money. Have been a Maruti loyalist for 15 years but not now. I get average of 10 - 10.5 in Gurgaon city with diving of about 30 kn every day. Engine is noiseless, and I really enjoy driving this (in the last about 4 months). Diesel is added economy for sure

Friend, if you were not a normal user of this car, I would have mistaken this review being written by henry Ford himself ! Cheers. Concise, clear and True.

    Dear Musavi
I know, maybe Ford should pay me for this. But honestly the more I drive this car more I am in love with it. Had recently driven to Udaipur from Gurgaon for an overnight trip and boy it was fun. The average was mind boggling despite speeds of 140-150 and handling was superb. (Maybe I really should forward this to Ford?!)

I plan to buy Ford Fusion because of its high seating and so called power.SX 4 seems to be a high seating one with better looks. What do you suggest?

  6. on 12 Dec, 2007 at 05:09 PM Sandeep Vohra (Gurgaon)

    Dear Sanjoy
Looks are subjective. SX4 is a lot on the roads and I have test driven the same too. Compared to Fusion it is cramped for shoulder space (try seating 3 people in the back or even the driving seat itself). The boot space options get limited.
There are some nice technicla touches in both and hence I would say equal there though in safety features SX4 is ahead. Cant say about average because havent really tested SX4 for that. I clocked 13 kmpl in Gurgaon on my last tank ful in Fusion

  7. on 12 Dec, 2007 at 05:13 PM Sandeep Vohra (Gurgaon)

To continue, in terms of drive I found Fusion to be far ahead. the dimensions, grip on the road, turning circle and maneouvring is much better.
Oh and try closing the door of both the cars, Ford is much heavier and solid.
Yeah another good point for SX4 is Maruti service backup which Ford lacks. Havent had any reason to conmplain though in Gurgaon because all you go for is regularly servicing only and that is alright. But I do wish that there were more servicing stations to make it less crowd

Thanks Sandeep, but spending 7+lacs on a car like fusion with 1.4 litre engine when Travera is available for some more money does it make good sense?..Can we call it overpriced ?Pls advise

  9. on 13 Dec, 2007 at 08:57 PM Sandeep Vohra (Gurgaon)

Hmmmm Yeah you have a point there. Diesel is expensive but then Tavera is in a different segment. Fusion is a more personal vehicle while Tavera is more a Jeep. Personally I prefer petrol always since cheaper and easier to maintain also my monthly drive is not that much.

Thanks Sandeep, I am about to own a Fusion next week and this gives me a lot more confidence after a lot of people told me that it is quite expensive affair. Th eirony is none of them own or have test driven a fusion ;). BTW I am also in Gurgaon

  11. on 23 Feb, 2008 at 10:13 PM Sandeep Vohra (Gurgaon)

    Hey Vipul
Trust me have owned it for almost 12 months now. Bought 23rd March 2007. Have done about 7500 km. Drive daily nowadays to Manesar (about 40km) and am getting 14 kmpl. Apart from regular servicing no other expense. That also I bought 2 yr plan. Fantastic car

    Hi Vipul
Hope you are enjoying a fusion. I recently took a trip to Udaipur again and trust me it was huge fun.

    Hi Sandeep,

What about repairs and servicing. I am in Uttarakhand. The fusion seems to suit my needs exactly. But pl let me know re problems of service and repairs. Lot of comments on poor service of Ford. Have you had any breakdowns or repair problems?

  14. on 11 Aug, 2008 at 02:30 PM Sandeep Vohra (Gurgaon)

    Hi Nanda

No breakdowns till now after running for 16000 km. Have done Gurgaon Udaipur (680 km one way) twice, gurgaon ajmer also once and the car runs without hitch.
Only issue is service center. There is only one in Gurgaon. but they deliver in time are very cooperative.
havent had any repairs except for changing of rear bumper (i managed to hit that one while reversing) and that was done through insurance with no hassle.

  15. on 11 Aug, 2008 at 02:32 PM Sandeep Vohra (Gurgaon)

    Hi Nanda
What I mean by service center is that being only one in Gurgaon, it remains fairly busy and hence it is always better to pre-book your service.
I wish there were 2-3 in Gurgaon to reduce the workload on them.
In fact just last month I gifted Ford Ikon to my father and he is quite happy with his car

hi!!! folks i am planning to buy a second hand fusion 2006 model and its costing me around 350000,driven 60000, pls guide me am i doing right???tell me about its maintains costs!!

  19. on 30 Mar, 2009 at 08:32 AM Sandeep Vohra (Gurgaon)

    Hi Anonymous
Hard to say about the price since I have no experience/ feedback about the same. However in terms of maintenance - In 2 years 25000 km I have spent nothing apart from regular servicing schedule. I would say quite maintenance free.
    Enjoy the car

Fusion 1.6 is for the car enthusiast.Have one since Aug.05 done 35000,still a fan.Bought a Safari Feb 08 but like the Fusion more for sheer driving pleasure.Great for city & hills.Performance of Fusion is far better than the SX4 though they have equavivalent engines.High speed driving is a pleasure But the hard suspension is a pain on bad roads at slow speeds.Load carrying capacity is phenominal.Ingress &egress is very easy.Great for oldies &people with bad backs.A great practical package.

    Hi folks,
Have owned a Fusion 1.6 (petrol) since April 2006. I bought it because I loved it on the test drive, and I still think its one of the best cars for self driving. The driving comfort is phenomenal, even at speeds of 130 kph+. Have been to Simla and Bhimtal, effortless driving. Yes, very few service centres, expensive spares, but all worth it if you love your driving. But essentially a car lovers car.

    Hi Friends,
Ford Fusion 1.6 Petrol is a good car. I am using it for the last two an half years. It is pleasure driving it. It gives you better visibility on road. Suspention is superb. I found that its servicing is little expensive but satisfactory. I would like to recommend this car as Above Average.

    Gentlemen!

    hi sandeep,
i am plannig to buy a fusion 1.6 petrol, and getting meny threats from my friends saying it is very heavy in maintainance costs too.And also heard that problem with spares it is being a discontinued model..please help me in making descission.

  31. on 21 Nov, 2009 at 09:36 AM anonymous

Hi! No I ddint find maintenance cost to be high! The regular servicing cost is infact less than that of a Honda! Yes even I heard that it is liekly to be discontinued however, the engine of Ford fusion petrol is same as ford fiesta so spares should never be a problem :) Only issue you may face is body parts like headlights/ tail lights. But then how many times does one change that? People still maintain their Matiz dont they. The drive of this car is worth it!
