I test drove the Logan. Had been contemplating buying a diesel car for a lng time..had finally made up my mind to buy the Verna - Diesel but decided to wait for the Logan.

After the test drive, i've gone ahead and booked the logan. Why ???

1. Good price point. The top end is cheaper than a Verna- BBay by a good 1 lakh.

2. Roomier than most of the car. Altho I think that the Indigo is equally roomy.

3. Quality of drive : Better than an Indigo. Comparable to a ford Fiesta, however the Verna is miles apart (better). The  engine is pretty good and did not feel like I was driving a diesel car.

As a car, the Verna has a better engine (BHP : 110 vs 65 for Logan) however, the overall package is more appealling in the logan. The ride quality is good and its more value for money.

Again I'm a city driver and for me factors like room, fuel efficiency and boot space are more relevant than sheer power. The logan also offer good addons like the air bag for driver side.

On the downside : stupid cost saving issues like , the boot can be opened only with the key..no remote boot opening. Mirrors are not electronically operated. They've minimised the power window keys. Also they're not ergonomically placed. The indicator and the wiper are like European cars - Ulta ...so it'll take time getting used to it.

However since the car satisfies most of my criterias...and am willing to compromise of the few negatives mentioned above.... So if you're looking the buy the Indigo-Diesel or the ford fiesta - Logan is a better bet.

Another thing I forgot to add...a lot of folks are complaining abt the ground cleance (indicated as 155 MM)...its actually 172 MM ...the ground clearance is 155 MM when its fully loaded with 5 passenger and fully boot. ...thats what I was told by the Mahindra Dealer in Andheri (W)...

I THINK THERE IS NO ANY DIESEL CAR FOR TEST DRIVE PROVIDED BY COMPANY.
THEY ARE PROVIDED ONLY PETROL CAR FOR TEST DRIVE.

Pls check the dealer at Andheri (W) Link road opp fame adlabs. HAN Motors. I've done the test drive there. There's no way I was going to book a car without a test drive....

I too was fairly satisfied with Test drive. They have indeed compromised on a few essentials like Power Windows and Central locking in the base model. Also a good music system should have been in the price for the base model. Choice of colours in base model is very poor. Can't figure out reason for the same though. If I have to go for the upper end model only for colour ?

    hey buddy,
you booked the logan alright and you had given us some specks about your decicion about why you liked it cool.
but you have not given the readers any technical info about how you had given the logan 4 stars on performance and on fuel effeciency. please provide readers with your real time experiance with the logan and not the sales persons goofs about the product
which will help people like me to decide well.

Iam own a Fiat UNO-DIESEL and has given me excellent service and wanted to go in for an upgrade, I had recently test driven Logan 1.5 Diesel ( Base version ) and found out to be very good and is value for money. You can do upgrades on the base version too(except for Airbag . Mahindra should extend range of choice of colour

Has anyone checked out the AC? Is it good enough to keep the huge cabin space cool and chilled in extreme Delhi summers?

Friends,, noted all your comments... above all those things, it is a new comer and in a shorterwhile, company may upgrade the car as they did in bolero... So, if anyone mad about LOGAN wait for some time, you may have a more specifications at the same price... (MORE IMPORTANT:: in the meantime, number of new model cars will roll on the roads and you will have lot of options::))))

MAHINDRA SHOULD IMPROVE IN THE FOLLOWING

    1. PROVIDE BETTER COLOUR QUALTY AND CHOICE
    2. WIPER DIRECTION SHOULD BE FOR INDIAN CONDITION.
    3. INTERIOR PLASTIC SHOULD BE GOOD
    4. SHOULD PROVEDE POWER WINDOW FOR 6 LAC COST DIESEL VERSION
    5. SHOULD SCRAP 1.4 PETROL AND RETAIN ONLY 1.6 PETROL WITH LOWER PRICE OPTION
    6 IMPROVE INTERIORS

Ya I also made a test drive. It is nice to Drive Logan. But we can clearly see the diference between petrol and diesel. Still it is better than Indica. Good Pickup. Model is good. Road vision is very clear. Power steering and AC O.K. They could have given the car in 1600 CC. Colours are very limited in Base model. In top end model power window keys are akwardly placed. Rear view mirror excellently placed like Ford Ikon. Every body says me that it is best deal for Rs.6 lakhs.

Hello VJ , I recently had a TEST drive of Logan 1.4 L (petrol) ... I like the engine smoothness and gear shift. I felt its one of the finest engines on Indian roads ! ... But the stability was not quite good on small potholes , is it becoz of the suspension or tubeless tyres are more bumpier on smaller potholes ??
