took the car for test drive for almost an hour, the engine noise is more, but is hardly anything considering it is a diesel engine. not much vibration at all. excellent pick up even in higher gears. they sales rep talks highly about its fuel eco but that remains to be seen. MUL have come out with another car of the year i wud say.

I have contacted various dealer in chennai. Nobody is ready to say the delivery date of swift diesel. Kindly let me know maximum days will take to deliver from the date of booking and amount of booking for this vehicle.

  3. on 17 Apr, 2007 at 12:02 PM Anand Patel

I am waiting from 2 months, I may get in another 2 to 3 weeks. Now if u book it will take 4 months. Advance I paid 50000/-.

  4. on 02 May, 2007 at 06:30 PM Namratha Punita

    Namratha
My Brother have booked maruthi swift VDi .... The advance he have paid is 50,000... and the dealers have told to wait for 4 months to get it delivered.Color is Metallic azur grey.

    Regarding Technical Issue:-
Thats true engine sound is more.vibration is ok when compared to other diesel cars.i have checked with TATA Indigo ( vibration is more).
Pick up is good with top gears (4 and 5).Milieage is also good when compared to swift petrol. The dealers have told that it will give 24

  5. on 02 May, 2007 at 06:41 PM Namratha Punita

    but i dont think so,it'll... @ max 22 milieage(in city range)...which is good(compared to petrol)

with AC on it may get reduced to 20-21 milieage(guess). where in petrol AC on it gives only 8..
Stearing controll is very good... after all power stearing.... no need to struggle as we used in old maruthi cars(800, van etc) :-)

Took the car for test drive.simply mind blowing guys.with top gear(top speed)... If we apply the gear suddenly in top speed, the car expension is still the same

  6. on 02 May, 2007 at 06:48 PM Namratha Punita

i.e the position of the car will be the same.it dont disturb even the breaks in the top speed.wat u call road grip is good.so we can avoid accidents.
sorry guys i've mentioned gear in my previous comment its not gear its break.so kindly adjust :-).

Totally its fun lovely car.we can play as we want.awesome.made for INDIANS roads.

so simply enjoy maadi.i hope u guys will have lots of fun when u own ur swift by urside.

    Thanks & Regards

Hello Namratha..nice comments but they need more of technical and specific data..!!
I have a query..if anyone could help me..My daily drive to office is about 14 kms, to and fro. I have been told that the mileage of diesel cars falls drastically over short distances. Is it true? Would be happy to hear from you guys on this regard.
    Thank you

    hi,
own a swift deisel for 2 months now. already done 5000 KM. Great drive. Little vibration, but best in its class. As far a fuel eco goes I get 19-20 KM/L on a highway with the AC on throughout and 14-15 in town with AC on as well. I live in a small congested town and hardly reach 4th gear in most of my commutes. In reply to Nishants query, guess 14 Km/L is decent enough, except if u think of driving somthing like an Alto, that too only without the AC.

I have checked with almost all dealers in western mumbai. The delivery timelines are approx 6-8 weeks

    Hi Nishant,
Remeber 1 thing. Diesel engines love to travel a lot. Its not that mileage drops over short distances. Buy a diesel car if you are going to make over 2000km/month. Considering Swift vdi and vxi- in bangalore u pay around 5.7 lacs for vdi and 4.6 for vxi after discounts. The extra 1.1 lac u r paying is worth if you are travelling more than 2000km/month since the extra 1.1 lac will increase EMI, interest on loan etc..
Best thing-write down your requirements on paper & do research

Mindblowing Drive,Superb Styling.Overall experience while driving was Excellent.Great pickup ,no noise,no vibration,Excellent handling on rough roads also.
But I need to say,you should read the tips given on maruti's website to get a better mileage .
Swift Vdi priced at Rs.550000 cant be compared to anyother car in its segment .Else we have a good option for Renault Logan ,here you get a Petrol Engine instead of Diesel. The Ultimate luxury at minimum price cant be achieved except u have a Logan

  13. on 29 May, 2007 at 10:04 AM Harpreet Singh (Faridabad)

    Hello All,

Well I have to buy a diesel car and still undecided on going between Logan and Swift Diesel...
Swift is fantastic as far as Engine is considered and EPS is something no body has a match.

Logan is a good car as compared to space but then going for the top notch costs about 1.5 lakhs more.

Can somebody help me decide which on to go for?

TO me Maruti looks more attractive as they have fantastic after sales support and low maintainence.

    Please suggest.

    1) Is there any deal/discount going on for Swift diesel in Bangalore (As on May 29th 2007)?
    2) Is there any written commitment on delivery date?
What I am hearing is that it takes 4 to 6 months. but is just a word of mouth and no written commitment. I am considering to book VDi. If you can please help me with answers to above queries, it will help me to become part of your group (Swift owners group!) -Prakash

I am confused between swift vxi and swift vdi. My daily office run is 30 Km (return) and monthly will be around 1100 Km. If doing 40% downpayemnt, which will be the best option?

Swift deasel/petrol is a good car as per engine specification & maruti after sale service, but swift has got cabine problem,it is difficult to drive due to its low seat position & small back view.Any budy can see on road there are 90% swift are dent from sides & back.Body KA ANDAJ SIRF APPKE BAHUT ACHCHE DRAVING EXPERIECE SA HE ATTA HAI,but In SWIFT ONE HAS TO DRAVIE VERY CAREFULLY ONLY THEN YOU CAN REDUCE SIDE SCRACHING FROM TRAFFIC. For any biggener it is not advicable TO

Swift VDi is indeed a 5.5 lac luxury, in terms of driving pleasure, performance, mileage, engine(common rail multipoint injection). Took a test ride at eastern express highway, tell u guys I drove best diesel car, it went to 0 to 100 in some 11 seconds, thats awesome, 18 is the mixed mileage in city+highway. I am buying this car in the next week.

Hi..... i am a bit confused, either to buy maruti Alto or to buy Swift VDi. I have seen all features of both cars........
my daily avg. running is around 45-50 kms. My driving is mainly to be focused in city itself. I am tempted by swift vdi, but seeing huge diff in price, i hav a 2nd thought.

there are mixed reviews bout mileage of swift. some say its 15-16 while some say its 12.

    Any feeds on both......

  20. on 16 Oct, 2007 at 09:00 AM Serge

    Dear Friends,
this is in follow-up to my previous posts. I have done 15,000km in my VDi in 6 months. No problems whatsoever so far. Fuel Eco is steady at 19-20 on highways and 14-15 in town both with A/C. The car handles superbly. Minimal vibration etc which can be expected in any diesel car. But as some one said. remember YOU are the FUEL not your CHAUFFER

Hi friends!! i dont know why so many people are confused about the mileage of swift. Guys, it all depends on how you drive your swift, traffic conditions etc. However, you can follow following tips to increase your mileage (as suggested my maruti):
    1. Once a month, check your tyre pressure.
    2. When you accelerate, shift to lower gear first and then gradually increase your gears.
    3. turn engine off if you r at red light for > 1 min.
    4. Shift to 5th gear as soon as possible.
    5. Try driving at

  22. on 07 Nov, 2007 at 04:54 AM Vaibhav

    5. Try driving at 50-60. recommended gear shift with AC are:
    1st to 2nd: 10km/hr
    2nd to 3rd: 20-25km/hr
    3rd to 4th: 30-35km/hr
    4th to 5th: 40-45km/hr
    6. Drive as smooth as possible i.e. try maintaining speed between 50-60
and avoid sudden brakes and acceleration.
    7. Keep air filter clean (i know we all are lazy to do that, but trust me...just look up your manual..and once you know how to do it, it will work wonders).
    8. when you brake, take your foot off accelerator and shift the

  23. on 07 Nov, 2007 at 04:54 AM Vaibhav

    8. when you brake, take your foot off accelerator and shift the gear to neutral (and yes take your foot off the clutch). If you keep pressing clutch, it will consume more petrol.
    9. When temperature inside you car goes down, try to reduce your blower( i know many of you do this already, its for those who dont do it).
    10. And yes, efficiency improves after 3000 kms. So wait, dont panic. New car does'nt give the best fuel efficiency.

Trust me, if you follow all these steps, you will definetel

Hello Every one, after giving a very deep tought, i finally brought a swift VDI, which i really loved it, when i took the test drive itself, the car gives a good luxury, and trust me the milage is not at all a problem( 18 in city and 22-23 on high way) as as viabhav has told, if we do maintain the car correctly, u cannot get any other car better than swift in this range. Yes i aggree to the problem that the engine has a bit of noise, but its a disel engine rit, so its quite obvious.

Hi..this is best car in this range with all the facilities except boot space. very comfortable to drive and mileage is almost around 18 to 19km/pl with AC on . I never tried without AC off in city/long drive. I hope that mileage will be little bit more 20/22.After analysis for long time , finally decided to go for Swift instead of i10.
