Yes this is here to kill HC rule frm last decade.

Got really nice instruments on these set of wheels

* Blue & Me lets you talk & dial on phone without using ur handset.

* Auto Climate AC

* Nice music system with nice speakers and control on stearing.

* Soft touch plastic looks class above interiors.

* Air bags, ABS, EBD etc.

* Rear AC vents on knee ht. really will keep rear pesenger cool in summers.

* Excellent fuel economy fo abt 18kmpl on highways and abt 14 in city.

* Top model cheaper by abt 1lac frm HC.

But, still needs to sharpen its tooth

* 1.3l diesel same as in swift, palio & indica vista but with tourbo boost make it to 86bhp but found slower then swift dezire for 0 to 100 mark.

* Low ground clearence for indian roads as same problem in Honda City.

* Less colours to choose from only 4.

* Absence of automatic transmission as an option.

* Need to improve its service infrastructure but now we can see that as Fiat shakes hands with TATA in India.

Verdict:

* Not a performance car but a Family Car

* Overall excellent features for first time in India in this class like Blue & Me, Follow Me Home, Digital Meter giving all info.

* Class above interiors especially compared to HC. Every other car in same class looks class below if compared to this.

* Value for money compared to all other cars in this segment.

* 500lts boot good enough for 4 large bags.

SO, Booked my Liena after doing all hard work and R&D of cars for very long time. Wanted auto transmission but coudn't streach my budget till Toyata Corrola. Didn't like HC interiors at all so no no... to it.

Hope it will be helpful to all the readers..

I'm seriously considering the Honda City 2008. Compared to the old City, there is no doubt that the Linea is better. But, how about the HC 2008 version? I feel this is comparable and the 1L extra is OK for the brand value. Having said that, I think the Linea looks ravishing. No doubts. If only Fiat had a better resale value... (sigh!)

Great looks just like Corolla. I dont mind buying this car but I hope Fiat has studied Indian market(People) and roads otherwise in a few days they will come out with Fiat Linea NV / Fiat Linea Stile Etc.

talking abt brands.. fiat is the group that owns the ferrari brand... wonder if honda is nywhr near tht...

  5. on 16 Jan, 2009 at 01:21 AM Anurag (Ahmedabad)

yeah fiat owns ferrari. they rule in the formula one. so fiat knows a thing or two about cars and has brand value. hondas are supposed to be cheap cars elsewhere, dont know why they have such a huge ho haa value here

Taken the TD a couple of hours ago and found the linea amazing...good pick up if you are a non racer, lots of features and the best the price. Rs.7.77 for the dynamic pack with abs and ebd and blue n me with 15+ km/per lt in city n 20+ in the highway is just superb..forgot to mention the lively interiors with climatic ac...considering in buying the car immediately...

hello all.. tell me are we getting a bigger diesel engine in the near future? otherwise i wud feel silly if i find one launched after we decide to purchase the current diesel motor of 1.3L.. fiat always adds more features to subsequent models knowing their history... yes am a serious admirer of fiat uno and siena for their performance..owned them and burnt my fingers seriously while selling them..this car looks awesome and inspired styling with performance.. hope fiat dosent sabotage my confidd

Tata dealers are giving a step-motherly treatment to Linea, covertly and overtly derailing the marketing efforts, howsoever minuscule it is.

  9. on 23 Jan, 2009 at 12:28 PM Benedict (Chennai)

    Dear Madhusudan,
When we see lot of Linea blogs, everyone is writing about the low power of 1.3L Multijet Engine. So Fiat may have the fear of again being left out and may come out with an option of 1.6/1.9 Multijet Diesel. This may not be now immediately, may be if this linea is a success in sales volume, may be they will bring out the variant in 2010 as those engines are already doing duty in Turkey and Middle east. So choice is yours to buy now or later.Otherwise car is superb.

Lack of a proper engine to fit a car of this size
    irrespective of turbo boost. A 1.9 Lt.diesel or a
    1.6 Lt.petrol would complete the offering.Why is
Fiat so slow in offering a good choice of engines.
After Sales at Tata's leave a lot to be desired, even the sales personnel are badly trained. When will Fiat realise it's folly? Tata's
are only milking Fiat. The Vista is a car with a great heart in the wrong body.

  11. on 25 Jan, 2009 at 11:49 PM Bidyut (Mumbai)

Confused do we need to wait for the 1.6 ltr or 1.3 is sufficient for a family .Again 1.6 shall have not as good fuel eco as 1.3 may be look for 1.4~1.5 . What is the test drive fuel eco of current version Diesel ?

  12. on 26 Jan, 2009 at 02:33 AM Anurag (Ahmedabad)

guys here is my view about the engines. they have offered 1.3mj and 1.4 fire engine because 1) to keep it competative 2) they will need time to work on bigger engines like T-jet(120 bhp)and so on. they launched it as it was delayed so much.

and 90% of indians who buy cars worth 8 lacs are careful and sedate drivers. this car is meant for crusing and not for drag races.

  13. on 27 Jan, 2009 at 06:28 PM P

2.0 litre engines r also cnsidered small engines in othr countries..i wonder when will indians stop being chep to diesel engines..it cmpeletley ruins the bloody car!

what is the city mileage with AC for Fiat Linea Emotion PK1.3MJD?

  17. on 06 Mar, 2009 at 01:54 PM Just Forkicks

Fiat as a company has produced good cars in the past but has been let down by poor service and the parent company in Italy is in a Financial mess. Also resale value of Fiat is pathetic. My suggestion is that prospective buyers consider Maruti's very capable SX4 as it offers similar benefits with lesser risks

Fiat’s Ranjangaon manufacturing facility is benchmarked against the global car manufacturer’s units in Turkey and Brazil. It compares well as the lowest-cost manufacturer, and Fiat will eventually source right-hand drive Linea cars from Rajnandgaon for the UK and Australia.
Fiat India has cost advantage of 14-17% over Brazil and Turkey. Fiat sold 4,600 units of the Linea in January-March. The demand for the top-end variant of the car accounted for almost 80% of total sales.

Can some automobile expert intimate about the ground clearance required for Indian roads, which are pathetic at most times. I find in i-20, it is more than 181 mm.

  20. on 11 Jul, 2009 at 06:28 PM R Adhikari

why cant they launch 1.6 & 1.9 mutlijet. At present they can,t compete verna on performance. Secondly must have service centres atleast in metros. Tata will always give a stepmotherly treatment. main reason for failure of fiat in india was service back.must learn from experience

When is Linea 1.6/1.9 Multijet Diesel expected, I would love to buy it but its underpowered.

The above review does not seem t be genuine. The feedback on Linea and Punt is that the mileage is very poor and the car lacks the punch.
