I drove a fiat palio SDX the top end version as a test drive offered by prerana motors. First ,about the behaviour of the staff there,i should say, was co-operative and good. Hope they maintain it after selling the car.

Now for the review- In the looks compartment it is a killer. Palio allways was.The cabin space is spacious and comfortable. The inner fascia are not the best but OK.Front seats are excellent and back seats are adequate.T he Knee room is adequate with front seat pushed back. Three adults can squeeze in ok. The build quality of the car is top class with solidness all around. No hatch has this qulaity( I test drove all the cars).

The car starts with a refined engine sound. The noise is very soft for a diesel and there is no body vibration expected in a diesel. Very refined engine. Put it into first gear and u will feel the engine eager to jump forward. I have found the engine power to be amazing and excellent in low as well as top speeds. one can put it into second gear and chug along in the bangalore traffic(!)withot effort. With 4 adults sitting I barely needed to change the gears. Its torque range is amazing. push the car and it will reach the 100 mark in no time. There is no roll when pushed around the corners. The best part of the car is the way it goes over the bumps. I have not felt such a comfortable ride over harsh bumps even with mush costlier and bigger cars. 5 stars for this one thing.Braking is good and the car doesnt drag on to sides when braked abruptly. It comes to a straight line halt in short distance. There is some dragging noise from theundercarriage when brakes are applied and the company person who came with us could not explain the reason. I found the same noise from the petrol palio stile as well. Overall it is an excellent car and if the car gives 17 kms for a litre of diesel as claimed, then it is going to give swift diesel a run for its money. Only the maruti peace of mind factor should keep swift ahead

    Hi,

Thanks for the review. But I came to know that interior looks are not that much OK. for example the provision for power windows is not that much good. Anyway I have planned to buy this beauty April 1st week.

i have similar views on this car. Great engine, with very low noise level. But i thought the build quality was a little raw and the steering lacked feel. All in all i think its a great car and very rightly observed by you.. the only thing that will keep the swift ahead is the maruti tag.

I AM HAVING PALIO 1.2 AS OF NOW.EECEPT THE MILAGE(10KMPL,CITY)THE STRENGTH,SAFETY,BALANCE AND RIGIDITY ARE ALL EXCELLENT.BUT WHEN I DROVE STILE 1.1 PETROL I GOT ANGRY ABOUT FIAT AND I HAVE SUBMITTED MY HARSH OPINION.NOW I HAVE SEEN THIS 1.3 MULTIJET TIGER I FELT VERY HAPPY ABOUT ITS LOOK,POWER,TORQUE,PERFORMANE AND I HAVE DECIDED TOGO FOR IT INSTEAD OF GOING FOR MARUTI DZIRE DIESEL

Palio 1.3 SD is an awesome car with immense power, real value for money at 5 lac on road Bangalore.

It may lack the interior finish of a swift however it spells the sturdy superior build, great handling proclaiming the superiority of italian engineering in the league of other European car majors like BMW,VW,Skoda,Audi as compared to the japanese cars.

Go for the Palio 1.3 Multijet and you shall never regret that car like the Palio GTX owners.

hi for all those of you who are reading this thread,I have some more opinions about palio 1.3 SDX to be shared. The back seat is not really comfortable.( I had another drive).Three persons have to sit little uncomfortably. The beam in the middle of back seat is going to be a pain for the middle seater. Gaurav I would suggest you to go for swift because of your low driving requirements and definitely maruti service is going to be better. If you want good ride quality then chose palio

    Hi
I AM DRIVING PALIO 1.9 DIESEL FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS AND I MUST SAY THAT THIS TOY IS AWSOME.SUPERB PICKUP IN DIESEL, GR8 HANDLING, EXCELLENT A.C ATLEAST FAR MORE POWERFUL THAN SWIFT.I HAVE SWIFT ZXI PETROL BUT STILL I LIKE DRIVING PALIO DIESEL DRIVING.I JUST LOVE IT.
IF YOU WANT A SOLID CAR WITH GR8 PERFORMANCE AND MILEGE, GO FOR PALIO STILE MULTIJET DIESEL AND I AM SURE YOU WOULD NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
    THANKS

    Hi,
Recently bought a Palio SDX a top varient of multijet. Car has a problem of dragging noise while braking, vibrations at 60-70 kmph speed and in top gear. Few essntials are things are missingsuch as a plastic sheet /guard in the body above the rear wheels to protect from errosion and deposition of mud in the rear bumper, and the card bord sheet under the carpet in the boot to cover the spare wheel. These thing are making the car look shabby.

    hi mr gupta
as i mentioned in the initial review the car has a dragging moise in its undercarriage. Initially i thought it was a one off finding but the second car i drove had the same noise and now u are confirming it. i reckon it has some thing to do with the engineering. Secondly i tried the back seat twice and i should say it is not at all comfortable and there is no space for the middle seater. The clutch is another problem zone and the car jumps in first gear if one doesnt hold the clutc

i have booked the Fial Palio Multijet SDX in Bangalore .. it has been more than 20 days and i have not received any confirmation on when i can expect delivery. Is anyone else facing similar issues.

  12. on 23 May, 2008 at 12:39 PM Salim

DearKurian Eapen, I have booked SD black, almost two months back, am yet to get the same. The regional sales manager has promised me the deivery in another week or so. Dealer says "The problem is with color, since nobody asks for black they dont produce the same in lot. If you need a red car, I can get it immediately for you".

    M Gurav,
I would recommend Getz Prime as your running is less and you are concerned about the milage. Palio diesel is also a good option if you are want to go for a diesel vehicle.

    Hello all,

I we got our Palio 1.3 last month and have clocked about 1000 kms as of now. Initial impressions - Engine is excellent - good power and great fuel economy ( it had used up 10.7 liters for a distance of 237 km in highway driving). Suspension can tackle even the largest of potholes without any issues but is a bit firm. As to the interiors trim is a letdown but has abundant space and the seats are comfy. I am a happy owner as of now.

HI all. I wanted to know what is the mileage that the palio stile 1.3 SDX gives on road specially city like Bomaby. My averagae driving per day is approx 80KM. Users pls offer your comments on this.

  27. on 13 Oct, 2008 at 02:34 AM Aushdeep

Reply to Nitin,, No vibrations are in the car at high speeds I have driven the car for 10000 Kms there was initial noise from the brakes but now is none, The car is the most stable car in its class.

Reply to Vacky77 : The FE of the car is 15-18 in the city with AC on and on Highways is always above 22.
