I took a test drive in the Tavera and I simply fell in love with it. I booked the car that same day!!! I bought the L2 model, with triple AC, Power steering and power windows.

Tavera has undoubtedly the best engine in its class. The turbo charged Isuzu engine is quiet and very powerful. My Chevy easily touches the 150 KM per hour mark on the Pune-Mumbai expressway. The car gives amazing pickup at the slightest touch on the accelerator.

Tavera has very good interiors. The cushions are good. The legroom in the second and third row is very very good. Even a six footer can sit very comfortably in the third row. The bucket seats offer great back support and are good for long drives. The wood finish on the instrument panel is also good. The electronic trip meter is very helpful and has class of its own.

My Tavera has TRAC (Triple row AC). The AC is fantastic. I have to increase the temperature, or my hands get ice cold!!! Even when I drive in the sweltering heat of Goa or Mumbai, the AC cools the full interior perfectly. The third row passengers are also well taken care of, with the third row AC blowers.

The car gives the best visibility any driver can ever hope for. The wind screen is large and the driving position is very good. Even if the driver is short, there won’t be any problem.

The Tavera is very easy to handle and the gears are very easy to change. The centre console provided in higher end models like mine, are very good and spacious. The power steering responds to the touch of a finger!!! The Tavera has a very small turning radius. So taking a U turn will not be problem even in the narrow streets. The steering wheel is very beautiful. My wife simply loves the leather covered steering, with a beautiful Chevy cross on it. The Tavera has amazing pickup and torque. It is possible to drive in the 3rd gear with a speed of 20Km/hr. This is specially useful in the city. It helps in fuel efficiency too! My Tavera’s gear shift is silky smooth.

My wife and I travelled to Goa and Kerala in our Tavera last year. We went to Goa from Pune. And from there, we went to Kerala. We also visited Vailankanni, a church near Chennai, on our car, with our family in Trivandrum.
I drove almost 6600 kms in a span of two weeks. After spending more time in my Tavera, than on my bed, I have begun to adore my Chevy. I drove to Goa from Pune, taking a break only at Kolhapur. The drive took me 10 hours, but I never felt any fatigue. We spent 5 days in Goa and travelled all over Goa in our car. The experience was simply wonderful.

From Goa, we drove straight to Kerala, through Mangalore. To tell you the truth, I drove continuously for 21 hours!!! We took short breaks only to have food. We left Goa by 6am on the 28th Aug and reached Trichur in Kerala, the next day at 4.30am. I could drive throughout, without any fatigue!!!

I got a mileage of around 16 on highway, with AC. I drove all the time at around 90 to 100km/hr. At some places I could drive only at 20 km/hr, as the roads we so bad. I have never felt more comfortable in any other vehicle!!!

I went with my family to Vailankanni. We were a group of 8. Everyone enjoyed the drive and the comfort of my car. Even with full capacity passengers and luggage, my car would zoom on highways at 120+ km/hr, without any lag. What a powerful vehicle!!!

After all these years of driving, I can say just one fact from my personal experience. No other vehicle in its class can beat a Tavera!

have you heard INNOVA. Please don't say that your tavera is best in class.I don't know what would have been your reaction if you had an innova. There is no comparisson b/w innova and tavera.for your relief the only area where tavera beats innova is fuel economy. So,please don't say that tavera is best in its class. You can compare it to sumo or bolero for your own sake.

VJ, I have used Innova extensively. I am the head of Admin in an MNC and we use Innova and Tavera daily.
I am well aware of what I am writing! My review is based on my experiences with my car. Tavera is THE best vehicle I have used and I say this after careful comparisons.
Innova is only good for the highways. Take it on a bad stretch of road and you will see the difference.
How can you compare a Tavera with a Sumo and Bolero? Who are you to pass judgements? I have written about my car.

If you don't like my review, say so. I have written what I feel. And everybody is entitled to their personal opinions.
If I feel that my car is best, I will say so!
My review is not a comparison between two cars. It is a detailed analysis.

if you feel your car is the best then say so,but please don't say that it is best in class. From your comments I think you haven't even sat in innova.Ask anyone except tavera owners if innova is better.I didn't post this comment by simply not looking at innova.I have been using innova for past 3yrs or 70,000kms.I am an car enthusiast right from my childhood and I never say anything that's not true about cars.I don't have time to explain the merits of innova.

Innova is an eyesore on the roads. It looks like an ambulance. You are praising the Innova because you have it. And I am praising my beautiful Chevy! I am writing this after travelling 6600 kms in two weeks in my Chevy!

Comparisons between two cars can be done on various issues like driving comfort, Legroom, headroom, response of the engine while overtaking, the comfort of suspension, efficiency of the AC and other gadgets, the safety factor, fuel efficiency, cost of periodic maintenance, good exterior looks, good interiors, on road price etc. It all depends on what you are looking for in your car and at what price. Whatever comments and retorts I have read is n/a unless the person specifies his priorities. A

Hi Carol Nettar, can you please tell me what is the mileage that you get from Diesel Innova and Tavera (on both highways and in city). I'm considering both vehicles but Tavera seems to have an edge mainly due to the mileage (which is important for me).

  9. on 04 Jun, 2008 at 10:12 AM Carol Nettar. E (Pune)

Tavera will give you a mileage of 13 to 14 in city with 100% AC. In highways, it will be 16-18 with AC and upto 20 without AC. Mileage will be good if you drive below 100 km/hr.

Innova will give mileage of 9-11 in city with AC and upto 14-15 on highways.

I am just looking for my next car- innova or tavera. For last ten years I was on five different sedan. I like them but now I need a SUV. Hi Carol Nettar, I like your comment, help me to decide what is my next.

Hi anonymous, I can give you my personal advice depending on your use and budget. Tavera is superb on highways and the city alike. The comfort factor is very good. Mileage is also the best.

Innova is very comfortable and sturdy on good roads. Mileage is not very good. I personally do not like its design. The front seats feel congested.

If you are looking for a trustworthy and pocket friendly MUV, go for Tavera. If you are looking for just comfort, test drive Innova and then decide.
