The interiors are spectacular, better than anything on offer on any of the other cars in the segment.

The dealers are getting heavy bookings, so dont expect too much attention, e.g. Autograph Mumbai - is only offering a test drive in their compound, and even that has a long waiting list!

How do you know about fuel economy? Everybody say the spares are costly.. how costly when compared to Hyundai and Ford? More details would be great..

The diesel engine isnt of the greatest technology, and the petrol 1.4 engine certainly isnt the most frugal either - so the expectation is a 10-12 km city drive fuel eco.

Skoda is notorious for spare costs - though the build quality is great, I expect that trend to continue.

Of the non-Maruti makers - only GM seems to be making a conscious effort to reduce and help manage spares and maintenance costs - and this will go a long way for them in the Indian market.

The 1.4 diesel engine isnt the best technology & the 1.4 petrol wont be the most frugal - I guess we can expect 10-12 kms to the litre for Petrol (city w/AC).

Skoda cars in India have had a spare cost problem, and dont expect that to change - though they are offering a 2 year unlimited warranty on the Fabia.

Only GM in India (besides Maruti and Tata), seems to be spares costs conscious - which would help them a lot - if only they had better models on offer.

Skoda is targeting the nuveau riche who would love to say that they have a "Shkoda" at home !! People who look for value for money will not get carried away by the premium tag and the snob value that comes with it. The Hyundai i20,the Honda Jazz and the Fiat Grande Punto will give the Fabia a run for its money! After all it is the value conscious car buyer that shops for a car in this segment...

I know many sedan users who bought a City or a Fiesta just to have that be in that segment, but hate having a big car in a city like Mumbai or Bangalore and having to drive it around in heavy traffic - some such buyers would also be attracted to Fabia given its spaciousness and high specs. Its the best of both worlds then. So I dont think this is a snob-value positioning at all - its quite correctly positioned, for the value and goodies it provides.

I found the engine to be noisy but the pick up of the car is excellent. I have heard that the periodic servicing cost will be around Rs. 5000/- to Rs. 6000/- which is high when compared with the other sedan cars like honda city and others.

should one really go for the Fabia , considering the fact that it costs around 1.5 lac more, for slightly more features, a less effeicent engine and costly spares & service ?
