Hi guys,
i have been researching about midsegment diesel  cars . Ford  fiesta  got very good engine , good interiors and very good milage(diesel). But more than 850000 for zxi model is not good value for money. Legroom at rear is not very good which is important point. After sales service is neither prompt nor polite. Spare parts will cost you a fortune. Compare to fiesta i would prefer anyone to go for VGT Verna, very good car with good leg room, good engine that is well refined, features like ABS, matching fuel economy with fiesta and most important thing is best after sales service like Maruti with less expensive spares. So just paying 30000 more you can get ABS and more powerful car with same milage along with good service.

    HI GAUTAM,
YOU ARE ONE WHO WILL BE SPENDING BIG AMOUNT ON CAR SO IT'S TOTALLY DEPENDS ON YOU TO DECIDE ABOUT WHICH CAR LOOKS GOOD TO YOU. BOTH CAR LOOKS GOOD TO ME, FIESTA GOT UPPERHAND. BUT WHEN IT COME TO PERFORMANCE VERNA STILL THE BEST MIDSEGMENT DIESEL CAR. TOP END VERNA IS VALUE FOR MONEY BUT AIRBAGS ARE MISSING ANYWAY HYUNDAI GOT GOOD REPUTATION OF CUSTOMER SERVICE.
FUN BEGINS IN VERNA WHEN YOU HIT 50 PLUS. GOOD MILAGE. GO FOR VERNA.THINK TOPEND MAGNUM IF YOU WANT LOOKS AND PERFORMANC

Abhiket, I would like to point out that the Fiesta is actually more fuel efficient, and more driveable in traffic. The Verna is only fun on an open road but a pain in traffic due to the larger turbo that comes into effect only in the higher rev band.
Also, the Fiesta is cheaper than the Verna and one can opt for the Fiesta SXi TDCi which comes with ABS and leather seats. The Verna has a poor suspesnion at high speeds and bad roads along with poor braking in the non ABS one.

I would like if comments from owners come. I think most salespersons from the respective companies are providing promotion material here. Please write genuine comment on what car to buy. Is maruti new swift dzire good?

    Dear Aakalp,
I admit your fact about abs hence i have edited my review. I work for Hilton in UK as a chef. In UK Ford is one of the most respected company and ford focus is best selling car. But i still stick with my point about Verna and whatever i am saying if anyone feels not correct go for test drive check both cars and take your decision. Everyone got brain and these reviews are just little guidlines to be used by person who want to buy a car before or after test drive.

I am a Ford Fiesta owner and since june 26, 2007 am driving fiesta which is fun to drive specially in busy city traffic, I have not spend a single penny on maintenance, and Fiesta's Pick Up is far better in city, intial pick up is better, for Racing Purpose Verna is good but unfortunately My city is not a racing track, Fiesta's initial pick up is better than VERNA, n see the Price difference too no harm in spending 20 k extra in 3 years, though i dont think i have to! Its VFM (Value FOr Money)

    Hi Rajiv,
I know some tata owners who are very happy with after sales service and maintenance. So there are always exceptions for everything. It's great to hear that you got value for money. Rude aftersales service and expensive parts of ford india are the problems of the majority ford india owners.
And new car buyers just wait till Fiat Linea is launched. i have seen that car in Eorupe. It's definately worth waiting for this car and about to be launched in india in the month of Aug 08 cheer

I have booked the fiesta and waiting for the delivery, though I have not driven Verna I found through reviews that Fiesta is the car for me. I travel 80 Kms everyday and manouvering through Hyderabad traffic can become a nightmare, Fiesta beats every other car in that area. I have a 100000 Km warranty and Lease plan (car lease) has provided me with additional accidental coverage which takes care of the cost incurred above and over the insurance coverage.i dont have to worry about the spares.

i have heard a lot about spares costing a bomb for ford india vehicles, as compared to hyundai. Hence can some guide me on the following:

    1. Spare parts cost fiesta vs verna
    2. Mileage : whcih is better
    3. After sales service
    4. Re-sale value of the car

I am based in hyd, where traffic jams are very regular!!!!
