absolutely this car have a great look like a modern beautiful girl but performence is like a uneducated, nonsence women. i tell u in detail

    1) u must have a noice in car when u take delivery from showroom.
    2) after 2-3 days the one of break, clute, sterring must produce noice.
    3) u cant drive in 4th-5th gear(in delhi).
    4) workshop will not satisfy u in first time.

BUT OVER ALL WE CAN SAY THAT IN 7LAC U CANT BAY A SUV WHICH HAVE GREAT LOOK

  6. on 25 Sep, 2007 at 03:21 PM Saroj Mahapatra (Jamshedpur)

Safari was great in looks but had a few problems early on, but now with DICOR i think things have improved.

  7. on 15 Oct, 2007 at 06:31 PM Nidhi Srini (Bangalore)

boring old design. like granny in a new saree. screwed up service and messed up engines and construction. why oh why does anyone want to buy this piece of crap !?

  8. on 16 Jan, 2008 at 11:17 PM Ashok Khanna

i appreciate ur review on tata safari dicor which is true and revealing wish i had read it earlier before making the same mistake u did tata has no ight to boast about lakh takiya car when his present cars are not worth a taka also Mr ratan tata should b ashamed of cheating the hard eaned money out of indian customers pocket

  9. on 19 Jan, 2008 at 08:26 PM Deepak (Kolkata)

My most joyous moment was when I sold the Tata estate .It was truly a piece of junk. It is amazing how this company continues to produce crap since 50 years and people still buy the products. Our govt is a party to this by protecting domestic trash producers by having high import duties on good products . They protest the manufacturer and kill the consumers

  10. on 19 Feb, 2008 at 08:45 AM Vj (Thrissur)

I am sure that this review is really from your heart.the safari makes astrong contender for the worst car in india along with other tata cars.I suggest you get rid of it as soon as possible and buy an innova. You will never ever regret your decision,it's a promise since I have been using my innova for the past 3yrs or 70,000kms, and there isn't any single problems I have had with my car.Toyota & Honda dealers are the most happiest of the lot as they don't have with headaches like tata dealers.

  11. on 06 Mar, 2008 at 09:11 AM Shobhit Srivastava

no for me my safari is best it is giving me both comfort & performence...............

  12. on 16 Mar, 2008 at 09:38 PM Gaurav

who talks abt problem must be talking abt 3.0l dicor...i agree it had some probs, but go and check out 2.2vtt..i have bought it in nov and it's now 3000km...through this i have been to real off roading...like i m fm dehradun...and i hv taken it to real off road...it's been amazing and comforting as well...reg workshop...go and check out, they are so cooperative...it's a really cool and good car in 10 lakhs.

Tata Safari is Jhakkas,Better than any SUV in the market below 1200000

  14. on 28 Mar, 2008 at 11:24 AM Viren_Pratap

i disagree with your review. We have a tata safari dicor vx. it is running at 30000km and i often take
it wherever i go.it has never given us any problem.

  15. on 18 Apr, 2008 at 01:18 PM Pankaj Kumar (Gurgaon)

tata should stick to manufacturing trucks. had once bought safari vx which had to sell of in one year as had got fed up with problems.
they should call it tata kabadi instead of safari

  16. on 24 Apr, 2008 at 04:37 PM Jitender Parmar (New Delhi)

I went to buy new TATA SAFARI 2.2 VTT but came back empty handed after test drive. Vehicle performance was fantastic but had 2 major problems -
    1. I couldn't see the speedometer. its hidden behind steering wheel. Bad design.
    2. High end pickup very good, but very sluggish initially. On 1st gear with A/C ON, if u press full throttle, it takes minimum 3 seconds to even sense that.
you will also be in for a surprise when u will see a very cheap quality front central A/C grill.

  17. on 24 May, 2008 at 08:42 PM R D Deshpanday (Pune)

I have read you all. First tell how to get a test ride of this vehicle.
I went to the showroom to see this vehicle, nobody responded. On the other hand the showroom people were ignoring me as if I am a fool to demand for details & test drive of this vehicle. At leat they were having enough curtsy, not to say 'Chal Hat be!, kaun aya ye bhangar lene', but I can read the same on thir face. My god !!! It was a dramatic experiance.

    I truly envy you guys.

  18. on 30 May, 2008 at 12:58 PM Ksidhu21

safari have great looks and performence .
i think its engine should be more powerfull
every diesel car needs maintainence so their is nothing to blame tata.its features are great .
this car is for them about 2000 to 3000 per month. its shape is impressible but some changes need to be done like - to make its body lighter and have more powerfull engine.

  19. on 20 Jun, 2008 at 07:33 PM Prudhvi Reddy (Nellore)

safari is a great vehicle its fantastic it looks like a dream whiteelephant.the latest 2.2vtt engine has good performance and mileage.it runs like a horse when compared to other cars in its class.but there are still minor problems which tata did not keep mind on it,like poor gearshift, slightly hard pedals.if this are corrected its bestvehicle it has all comfort, performance, safety, handling.we are going to buy it in a fewdays.according to ur review u said wrong that it had poorhandling.

  20. on 28 Jun, 2008 at 07:15 PM Inder

hi friends m ryan, i don't knw y people wriitten all this crap abt safari , it seems like they want parado or pajero in 10lakhs rupees . grow up men u r buying a suv in 10lakh no suv give u this power and performance in this segment ,so go n buy a new tata safari vtt.

  22. on 04 Jul, 2008 at 03:15 PM Mark

Safari is for people who love Safari. People on the look for just any SUV might compare it with Innova / Scorpio and have lot of comments. I own a Safari Dicor (3L) which has now run more than 15K KMs. It has not disappointed me till date. I have travelled in Innova and Scorpio and I would still rate Safari better than these SUVs when it comes to seating comfort and looks. Innova for me looks more like a mangoose :) Sorry if I hurt the Innova owners...but for me Safari is the best :)

  23. on 05 Jul, 2008 at 12:44 PM Prasanth

I wonder y ppl compare innova with safari..innova isnt an SUV, but a ppl mover....for around 12k u get a fully loaded safari 4x4, which i guez is great value for money...the service cost is also much much cheaper with Tata..So, if you are luking for a SUV around 12 G, there is no other option except Safari....

  24. on 14 Jul, 2008 at 03:13 PM Jassyindia

    Dear

My self Jagbir Phulia & i want to buy safari i m little confused to go with TATA or Toyota Innove. Kindly clear me .

  25. on 20 Sep, 2008 at 05:56 PM Gopkumar Sivanandan (Bangalore)

I'm amused reading the hate mails on Safari!! Gentlemen, Safari is for the one who loves automobiles, all the people who want to buy a people mover to ferry them from A to B can buy Innovas and Scorpio's, for the enthusiast it is a safari. All ye who have written terrible stuff about Safari, I do agree it has got some issues, but come on take pride that it is Indian and grow-up if you want every thing perfect go buy a Pajero and you will find even this has imperfections- Gops

  26. on 24 Oct, 2008 at 10:27 PM Rohitstar_Gzb

tata safari is the best in class.u cant compare it with innova or scorpio.they both r muv.iam further plaanning to purchase a safari.u cant get good car in such creasonable price.

Hi, myself planning for pre-owned Safari Ex Turbo of 2004 as my first car to start with. Couldn't find any info on this model on web, can anyone of you plz help?... I'm going for safari primarily for safety and style at starting level. Also the pre-owned cars are not as much as prone to depreciation as new cars in high end segment. Regular maintenance is not of much concern but i'm concerned about sudden break-down etc. So are these old Safari good enough to rely upon. Kindly advice.. thanx :)

  29. on 13 Nov, 2008 at 03:59 PM Rajesh Pawar

Hi guys, I have a Safari EX 4x2 Dicor (not 2.2VT). It has some problems, especially with the clutch which they tell me is not for traffic in a city like Mumbai. I guess the Tatas have a long way to go building cars. But hey the Safari is a damn good car when you are out in the countryside. Amazing to drive and handle. Its pure fun traveling in the Safari.

  30. on 03 Dec, 2008 at 06:21 PM Chaithanya

hi guys can any body tell me is it gud option for me buying tata safari or scorpio, i need a gud fuel economy + gud life time vehicle , can any body suggest me

  31. on 09 Dec, 2008 at 09:34 AM Baback (Mumbai)

Hi Guys, I own two of Tatas vehicles, one being the Safari EX, as for the people believing in low cost for service and parts for these cars, im sure all would agree, that with frequent visits to the service centre and paying for minor jobs endlessly, the maintenance cost at the end of the year tallies to that of a luxury sedan. Not to mention the days lost in garage. I agree to the comfort it gives but Tata needs to improve on quality parts that lasts longer like that of Innova and scorpio.

  32. on 22 Dec, 2008 at 06:00 PM Rachit Hirani (Thane)

Crap. I have used Safaris for over 10 years now. 2 years back I upgraded it to DICOR and its working very well. No issues.

  33. on 05 Feb, 2009 at 04:12 PM Anand Mehta (Mumbai)

Have had the Tata Safari for last 7.5 Years, it is a great vehicle, there are few minor niggles, but the latest 2.2 Vtt is a greatly improved vehicle that one can go for without any hesitation. I would rate it even better than the much more expensive Ford Endeveor, and definately much better than the Scorpio in all aspect.

Mr Bhardwaj,2006 obviously means you are talking about the 3.0 lit DICOR.The present 2.2vtt is a dream machine-trouble free, very fuel efficient, fatastic power delivery, lovely ride comfort, besides the gear shift I am happy with every aspect of this vehicle;including being great value for money.I have had for about 16 months and have no regrets about buying one.I have four other cars including Ford Fusion,Zen etc.But I rate the Safari as the best overall experience.

  42. on 03 Jul, 2009 at 08:57 PM Safari Makes You Feel Special

hi freinds this is shaan i owned safari dicor 3L... which is having a great power... and a chilling dual AC... Great Pick Up...Stunning Looks... Gr8 Performance... I am getting an average of more than 15k/L... Thats Good na... My Vote For Safari Dicor is the Best than any other Indian SUVS

  52. on 11 Aug, 2009 at 12:10 PM Yudhistsingh

Safari 2.2 VVTi is a fantastic vehicle, I have used it personally for a while now and its got good performance, and is more spacious than any vehicle under the 20 Lakh category. I think the poor/ negative reviews are for owners of the older models of Safari which had several teething problems.

The language used by people in these reviews is horrid.

  53. on 11 Aug, 2009 at 03:40 PM Yogesh (Bangalore)

Tata Safari DiCOR 2.2 VVTi is a great vehicle where stability is concerned, after sales service, value for money, overall performance and offroading capability.
Where maintenance is concerned, it must be slightly higher than others but when you drive a good SUV, you need to shell out a bit more incomparison to other SUVs to tame the beast. Interiors are better than before and the VVTi engine is much better & powerful. Indians have proved it once again. Overall it is a good SUV.

  54. on 14 Aug, 2009 at 07:41 PM Vijaykumar (Madurai)

In October 2007 Tata unveiled the 2.2-litre Safari DiCOR which had an increased power output of 143 PS (105 KW). But it was shortly replaced by the more advanced DiCOR 2.2 vtt (Variable Turbine Technology) engine which had a power output of 140 PS (103 kW) at 4000 rpm and a torque output of 300 N·m (221 ft·lbf) at 1700 rpm. It is widely regarded as the BEST ENGINE used by Tata motors. You are telling this to a safari owner.I don't accept your review. It is a good car and it is not bad dude.

  55. on 15 Aug, 2009 at 02:36 PM Abhi.Ronak

safari is a bad car if compared to scorpio if you are looking to spend your precious time in service centers then go for a safari

  56. on 16 Aug, 2009 at 11:46 PM Raji Kunjummen

I own a safari 3L base version for close to 2.5 yrs now and have absolutely no complaints. I agree with many, an SUV at this price with such great looks on road is nice to have and value for money. I have finished over 30000kms and have no complaints till now. But I am very particular of the servicing and make sure to change engine oil every 5000kms. I am in Bangalore and I have no problems handling in city and highway driving is a pleasure. I have heard 2.2vtt is much a refined engine. Go fori

  57. on 17 Aug, 2009 at 01:00 PM Ajay (Karnal)

tata products need more r&d they lack interiors and performance when compared to other brands cheap at buying stage only overall very costly indeed with no peace of mind.

  58. on 18 Aug, 2009 at 12:08 AM Pramod

After reading all the above comments, friends let me say Man & Machine, both are not perfect. Manufacturing defects can happen here and there for any brand. It doesnt mean that if One orange is rotten in a basket, the entire basket of Oranges is bad which the fruitseller is carrying.

Buying a car or any asset, be it a land property, apartment, shares etc... it all depends on your luck no matter whatever brand you buy..

So friends..dont think too much..Buy the car which you feel is gud to

  59. on 23 Aug, 2009 at 05:05 PM Shashwat.Verma (Bhopal)

hi I am Shashwat.Verma I own safari 2.2vtt from last 1 year & done 62000km on it fell comfertable
with it.pick up is exelent & fuel economy is also good in comparision to oter SUV's of this class.only uncomfertable on bumpy & un even roads as well as noise from back gate having heavy spare wheal.

  60. on 24 Aug, 2009 at 07:40 PM Santosh

no one should buy a tata safari unless the company comes out and has a buy back policy or free repair policy. it has great looks and that is it, nothing else, pls dont buy

  61. on 07 Sep, 2009 at 05:09 PM Rishabh (New Delhi)

Hi All, Have you ever noted one brilliant off roader called GRAND VITARA; 2.4 VVT engine worth a try!!

  62. on 24 Sep, 2009 at 02:54 AM Rajev30

I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the above comments, and overall it was extremely entertaining and informative. The reviews are mixed. Some are in absolute love with their Safari SUV's,some moderate and some aghast with it. Usually it is only the people who have complains that write comments. I'm really glad that here people who are pleased and satisfied have also very emphatically and enthusiastically praised the car. After reading all this I think it all depends upon your luck.

  63. on 11 Oct, 2009 at 03:55 PM Brainz Un Limited

Ya you are right, it depends on luck. But its not wise to pay 10 lacs and then pray for good luck. Better play safe and buy some other vehicle.

  64. on 18 Oct, 2009 at 01:32 PM Prasad Thakur

PLEASE DONT GO FOR ANY TATA PRODUCT. TATA CAN ONLY DO THE SERVICE OF FIAT.

  65. on 20 Oct, 2009 at 10:57 AM Asa (Mumbai)

Yeah ... TATA SAFARI ....Ride the monster. The best SUV man.

  66. on 02 Nov, 2009 at 12:31 AM Pushpendra Roy

Last year in september i bought safari, After, driving it for 6000 Km, i was shattered with its pathetic throttle and steering response. In july, i went to haridwar on that crap, i touched 160 Km/hr and my engine broke down in middle of road and never started. Then, i sold it off and really I Reclaimed my life :-)
Now, i am happy and satisfied with my Swift.

  67. on 02 Nov, 2009 at 09:52 PM Govind (Mumbai)

Safari 2.2 Di-core VX, is best affordable SUV in market.
Best value for money. Really its Good for Indian road. New car is really good. Not Much problem, stylish, power, But ya interior is not much impressive. Overall i wud say its not bad for those have dream to drive SUV. One thing more never expect to get 20-KM/L mileage form SUV. The Guys who are looking for Everything in one car, they have to keep waiting bcz there no car without problems.
