Hello Mr. Barakol,

First of all i personaly feel that with the kind of usage you have you should opt for a deisel car.

Still if you want to buy a petrol car than buy only that car of which there is no deisel variant is available else the resale becomes difficult and fetches less amount. In that case the best option would be upcoming Honda City only.

If you want to buy a deisel car than the best options to be picked up should be between Fiesta and Fabia. Both are very good cars with 1.4 cc engine and around 70 bhp each.

A 0-100 dash would be won by Fabia by a comfortable 3 seconds margin!

Mileage wise fiesta would be slightly better but fabia is not far behind.

In Built and finishing fabia is far ahead.

ASS, both are fine but not too great either.

Maintenence cost would be similar for both the car.

New Fiesta is expected by end 2010 while fabia should stay for atleast 7 years.

Iam using Fabia for last 2 months and Iam very satisfied with its performance.

You may decide according to your requirement as both are very good cars.

From the cars which you have shortlisted, Ford Fiesta 1.6S would probably be the best, based on your priority list. It has the performance, space, comfort (atleast the front seat comfort for sure) & resale appeal to meet your needs. However it's mileage maybe something you may not be keen on (10-10.5 kmpl in city).

The Fusion-D may not give the performance you may be looking for but would meet your mileage requirement. It also has the space & utility which definitely comes in handy. I think Fiat Palio MJD is a misfit here. It is definitely smaller in size. And when you have a budget of 6-8 lacs might as well get a bigger one.

Well if waiting for sometime (a month or two) is not an issue, you may want to look at the soon-to-be-launched Linea from the FIAT stable. I am sure the petrol version of this sedan would definitely fit your requirements. If i am not wrong there should be 2 petrol engine options one targetted for mileage and the other tuned for performance. It should be here in the range of 6 to 8 lacs (ex-showroom). It is a car which already has the heads turning in the entire market.

Have you narrowed down to your car already?

Bhushan

@ Deepam & Bhushan, He wants to buy a car within 10 days for Tax purpose, so he can pick one in presently available options. In present options, Ford Fiesta S is the best...one more reason is its a new model, he can opt for Honda City though but new model is expected to arrive very soon and also over his budget too. As Fiesta S is newly launched car, this is the best option.

In diesel, Fusion or Fiesta both r good performer and resale is also very good.... As suggested by Uneet, Fabia is also just another option but hatch, I dont think he is considering now.

fabia doesnt offer much space but it is a fine car.the fifth person seating is not good at all in the fabia. i have chosen the palio MJD because of its performance , mileage , space and solid built. the present honda city is very good but IV-TEC version is out of my budget.i would have probably bought the FIAt punto or linea but there arrival is delayed from wht i have heard(august-sept). thank you every one i shall consider all your advice and buy the best car. THANK YOU!

According to me the best buy in this range is the SX4 zxi. A complete car in which you dont need to spend a single penny (Mats and parking sensors etc. I got complimentary). With maruti there is no need to worry about the after sales service. As such the car will not give you any hassles in any case.

In your list it will obviously be the Fiesta; but among Fiesta and SX4, SX4 is better on most accounts.

Mr. Barakol, Ford Fusion is as good as any other car, having all the qualities and features. I dont think anyone is facing any problem with Fusion after buying, Infact the comfort level is upto the mark and decent interiors. Good for highways, good to drive in city.... the best on bad roads n speed breakers. A rough-tough yet smart option for you.
