Hello experts, I know you are fed up with this regular question from newbeas like me but i really need your help in clearing some one my doubts, which are belive are trhe doubts of maximum confused buyers like me/.

I am 23 years, single and have 2nd hand 98 esteem vx from last one year. I am looking to upgrade my vehicle at a good sedan under 5 lacs. My monthly running is apprx 2000 Kms including weekend breaks. My salary is 25k so most probably I'll pay the minimum downpayment for maximum loan. I travel approx 70 Kms daily so looking for minimum per kilometre charges. I have zeroed myself to the following options :

1. Indigo cs gls petrol at 4.21 lacs on road delhi. My emi for 7 years will be Rs 7000 / month after 50k downpayment. I would intall CNG so that my running cost may become Rs1.5 a kilometre.

2. Swift Lxi petrol at 5.13 lacs on road delhi. My emi for 7 years will be 8500 / month after 50k downpayment. I would install CNG in it too so that i may bring my running cost to Rs1.5 a kilometre with a/c.

You might have observed that I'll keep the vehicle for 7 years atleast untill all the EMIs are cleared. I have heard good reviews about diesel varients of both of these vehicles but i am concerned about running cost daily because i'll drive atleast 70 kms daily under a limited salary.

I need your advices very highly since its a big , A BIG thing for me.

Please advice

Yash

Yash you mention 'sedan' in you post and have considered the Swift-why so?

The best option for your running is a diesel.

If its a sedan you want then Indigi CS TDi or the Vista diesel if its a hatch back.

Dont go for aftermarket CNG and loose your warranty also think about the extra that you have to pay for installation.

hello yash, welcome to carwale.

diesel car would be a better option to buy for u as it will be low on running cost & as per ur usage diesel will be most suitable, if u would not like to stretch ur budget than go with indigo cs tdi & if u want a better car & can stretch ur budget till some extent than there will be no better choice than going for indica vista quadraget, it has the same engine as swift diesel & it is the best small capacity diesel engine.

vista is more superior than the cs & it is a new car with much better build quality, space, interiors & convinience.

i think if u can stretch vista quadraget would be the best buy.

Thanks for reply Mr Thomas, actually i forgot to write Dezire along with Swift. I meant Swift dezire Lxi petrol varient. I was considering CNG due to its lowest running cost. I have many friends who have installed CNG kit in their cars and they always say its like riding a bike and they are running their vehicles from years without any problem.... Thats why !!

How much a kilometre will cost me in Indigo CS Tdi...I have seen this new model, people say the engine is the same as of old Indigo and it creates problems after 3 years of running!! Though its looks are really very cute !!!

Hello Amin, thank you for a warm welcome, I'll try to be regular in these forums. I am looking for Sedan because I am already using esteem. I know diesel is a fine option but still I can end up saving thousands of rupees in the end of the month if I use CNG...isnt it ?

I can stretch my budget thats why I am willing to go for Swift Dezire Lxi with CNG and another option I am considering is Indigo CS GLE (Petrol) with CNG. Indigo is my priority because of its low cost.

hello yash,

if u would like to go with a petrol car & instaling a cng kit into it than dzire would be beeter choice compared to indigo cs, as dzire would be a problem free, u will get a full service backup of maruti & will be low on maintainance too & has bigger boot than the indigo cs.

i think ur running cost on cng would come to around 1.25-1.50rs per km.

Hi All,

Buddy how about Logan? I was wondering why nobody has till now mentioned the word Logan in this discussion? In my opinion its one of the best entry level sedan and is being considerd as VFM car. Dezire would definately score over Logan but then again the logic of installing a CNG kit in a brand new car doesnot sound too gud. It would not be a suggestable option. Logan diesel as a whole is a great performer and is a sedan too. Ofcourse looks might not be the best but they arenot too bad either. The build quality has been good and the shock absorbers are the best in the business. Keeping in mind that you are not willing to sell the car for the next 7 yrs takes away the concern for the resale value of the car. My vote goes to Logan.

Regards,

Rubal

NOTE: M I FINDING RAJIV PARASHAR AND SRI VSH ABSENT FROM THIS DISCUSSION?

hello rubal,

u r right & logan is indded a good car but his budget is limited to 5lacs & logan cant fit in his budget. i also suggested for a diesel car & in that i suggested him the vista quadraget but he wants a sedan & would prefer petrol with cng over a diesel car & in  this case dzire makes more sense of buying.

hello yash,

u can ask ur maruti dealer that can he fit a cng kit in the car & give u & cover it in warranty & insurance.

u can atleast just try this asking ur dealer & convincing him for this deal.

Hi

Well keeping in mind the daily running of say around 70 kms and an overall monthly running of 2000 Kms. would recommend you to consider a diesel vehicle instead of going for a petrol car. It will make a lot of sense. I m sure others may also support my cause. It will be more economical as compared to a petro car. Now you might be wondering about a common myth that a diesel car requires a lot of maintainance. Haina? Gone are the days when we used to have those diesel engines which required enoromous attention. Will the advent of technology diesel engines are far more refined and they are almost equivalent in terms of performance and maintainance to the petrol engines. No doubt the servicing might be a bit expensive but who cares if you are saving large bucks on the diesel. Think atleast for once. Its a 7 year investment not a 7 day affair.

Regards,

Rubal
