well if every accord buyer was as technical as u kk den im sure d car would sell like hot cakes ..fact of d matter is if d average non automotive engineer customer comes in to buy d car well he wouldnt actually care about d aerodynamics or drag coefficient for that matter ..not in india atleast ..
i am not against the car ..its a superb car ..my only point is that honda just could not deliver the same wow like they did with their previous accord which looks more upmarket ..and an optional xenon lights would make the car look better ...
well maybe i shudnt have used the term, pathetic .ill admit i got carried away ...but somehow i feel d design team of honda was takin a nap in 2008 lookin at d 2008 civic and accord
I think more than the external design it is on the inside where the Honda designers have spent most of the time. The new model is wider (25mm) / longer (80mm) / more luxurious / more upmarket / more powerful / more fuel effecient technology / Euro4 compiancy etc etc. Ofcourse this comes at a price and the new model is pricier too. But that's how evolution happens.
I feel the external design changes make the car look more aggressive. Ofcourse the older design made the car slightly more conventionally stylish. I remember reading in one of the interviews by a high profile Honda executive that they are concentrating more on the youth which constitutes majority of the buying power in the growing economies. Considering this i think the aggressive styling does appeal. Just look at the front from an angle with the raised front lamps, it is extremely good. I think more than anything else this gives Accord it's own new identity (not that Accord needed one). It is already a world-wide success car. With the new model, Honda is taking the fight right into the entry level German rivals.
Anyways it is upto the numbers to tell whether Honda have taken a step towards the right direction. I also think that this is the same design which is available in the US, where the model is apparently doing very good. Lets cross our fingers and see. Maybe Rajiv would be able to share 'Owners review' on this car soon!!
