Don't get the Central Lock (or any additional accessories) fitted from the dealer - it's very expensive.  Get it fitted from good & reputed accessory shop – it doesn’t affect the warranty, in any case (though dealer may state so).

Accessory shops, in fact, have more expertise than the dealers, as they sell & fit much more accessories than dealers do. Central Lock would cost in the range of 3-5K.

Power Windows, subsequent fittment, would cost in the range of 12-18K.  Like you have stated, it is not advisable to go for it (subsequently).  As such, Power Windows is not a must - one can do without it easily.  Besides, PowerWindows (even company fitted) are sensitive & expensive to maintain.

Hi again Pankaj,

I reside in Mumbai. Would you be able to recommend a few GOOD, REPUTED accessory shops, where I could have the Central Locking and other accessories fitted?

Does Xenos make Central Locking too? If yes, how much would I be looking at.

Thanks

P.S. Do you suggest that I have ANY accessories fitted from the dealer?

Sorry, I'm not in a position to suggest you about any accessory shop in Mumbai, as I'm not located in Mumbai & am not aware of the market there.  I suggest you can enquire about it locally & check with 2/3 such shops before finalising.

Regarding other accessories from dealers... I would suggest you to buy all accessories required (small or big) from outside - as they will cost you around 20-25% cheaper & you will also get choice of make/brand.  However, try & abstract as many free accessories from the dealers - you can easily get small ones like, mud-guards, floor mats, perfume bottle etc.

Pankaj,

Does Xenos Remote Locking mean Central Locking? If so, how much does it cost?

Also, how much does their gear lock cost?

In fact, Central Lock & Gear Lock are not required concurrently - prefer Central Lock.

btw jascha ,

if you are driving around 1000 kms a month a plan to keep the car for above 3 yrs , then please go in for the Indigo CS Diesel LS ,
Coz the milage is better and resale will be good , the main prob of tata petrol cars is that gives low Fuel economy and also suffers in poor resale value

pay extra 60k bucks and get the Diesel Indigo CS LS version

Pankaj prsd will explain u better rehgarding the benifits of diesel than petrol in indigo

Cheers,
Sri

Thanks guys.

I am looking to get the Xenos Remote Locking Basic Model. Is this the same as Central Locking?
Does this also have the keyless entry, and keyless door lock on leaving the vehicle?

I think just from a safety standpoint, it's better to get the gear lock too for another 1K, which serves as a visual deterrent to thieves.

What do you think about getting an anti-rust coating from the dealer, at the time of taking delivery? Is it recommended? How much would it cost me, and for how long do the effects remain.

Thanks

As part of the freebies from the dealer, what would be the order of preference from the following items -
- Mudguards
- Floor Mats
- Seat Covers
- Steering Wheel Cover
- Car Cover
- Tool Box
- Insurance
- Extended Warranty
- Teflon and Anti-Rust Coating
- Perfume Bottle
