Hi,

I intend to purchase a Honda City automatic 1999 that has done 80,000 kms.

Here are a few questions that I have to ask:-

1. Is the car worth a buy?

2. What are the maintainence issues that come up with that car?

3. What according to you is the right price for the car?

4. What is the FE of the car in city and highway?

5. What are the checks that I should be doing before purchasing the car, in terms of the car itself and secondly the papers?

Awaiting your response.

Skip the 1999 model car thats almost 10 years old and will only give constant trouble, if your budget is 2 lac have a look at a second hand accent, they are going at really nice prices, the non crdi model is selling below 2 lac..

No need Skip honda city car , honda has very reliable engine and everything is excelent and long lastting car and better when compared to accent , why dont you buy a newer model , asay 02 model for 2 lakhs , also check the car thoroughly through a honda mechanic to mqake sure that the car is PERFECT!

Hi Sri,

Tried everywhere. There is no vehicle priced under 1.8L that too Manual variant. The AT variant is around 20 - 30k more.

Does anyone out here owns or owned, this vehicle and could comment first hand?

The price quoted seems to be very reasonable - it could have been as high as around Rs.2 lac - depending upon the condition of the car.  Here's the LINK to  the CarWale Used Car Valuation Tool I used for the purpose.

City AT generally gives mileage in the range of 10/11 in city & 14/15 on highway (depending upon the driving conditions & style).  Maintenance is not an issue.
