Alto Lxi Vs Spark 1.0 PS

Dear Friends,

In today's News Paper Chevrolet has reduced its prices. So based on this which would be better?  Alto Lxi or Spark 1.0 PS?

Spark is overall recommended over Alto - In Spark, LT is a better version, nothing better than LT-option pack - comes for an extra cost - but you can negotiate further with the dealer for LT and get the rest done outside. Overall, Spark would be lot better than Alto.

Have to agree with KVSK in that Spark would be the preferred one here. I think for Alto LXi the matching model would be the Spark PS. Please go through the comparison at the LINK.

Ofcourse if you mention your preferences it is easier to suggest a model amongst these two. But in general, Spark would be definitely rated higher than the Alto. Some benefits of both cars-

Chevrolet Spark:

• Slightly wider (20mm. Alto is 1475 vs Spark is 1495)
• Greater vertical space available inside the cabin
• Better ground clearance
• Bigger engine giving higher power & torque
• Wider tyres for better road grip & safer driving

Maruti Suzuki Alto:

• Better servicing & maintenance support
• Better mileage
• More economical to buy as priced almost 45k lesser than Spark PS

Despite the differences, for a family to travel with mild luggage Spark could be preferred ahead of the Alto for the comfort & ease. This is not to mean that Alto is not good. Just that Spark is better. The current discount on offer only makes it sweeter.

Well the spark costs after discount , in managlore on Road price is 3.48 for non metalic , whereas altro costs 3.17 for non metalic after discount, for 30 k rs difrence , one shud go in for th espark , on the other hand alto is a good car too

Today I enquired for spark PS price is 3.61 for non metallic where as alto costs around 3.19. So difference is 42K. Even if we assume we will save around 7 to 8 K in service etc (due to cashless ownership offer of GM v/s alto) -difference is 35K.

Now i am really confused between maruti alto and xeta gls.  alto i like for mileage, resale value and less maintainance. for xeta more power , width and space and comforts. but i want to use my car extensively i mean daily for commuting b/w office and home for all things. daily it would be around 25 kms and once in a month local trip of around 300 kms.  which one shall i go for? price should be strictly within 3 lakhs (all inclusive)

I have more or less (not confirmed yet though) finalized on Alto just because I was adviced its easier to drive that Xeta. This being my first car that was one important criteria. Otherwise these two cars are having its own advantages/disadvantages and difficult to compare. If you decide, let me know too. My requirements are similar - only difference being I travel 35KM instead of your 25KM.

Also resale value of spark would be more by aorund 10k - 20k rs than the alto
