50 kms per day... ur use is good enough to justify a diesel car... but if you want to go for the petrol car then go for Spark LT, folding seat option is available if u will carry extra luggage.

1. The car is gem

2. you will get additional 1.5 to 2 kmpl as compare to wagon-r, santro, estilo, i10 (Practically mileage of all the cars in city 12 to 13kmpl only).

3. The features Spark LT offers in its price .... Best in class! Spark is Value For Money.

I am using it since nov. 2007 n coverd over 10500 kms ( You can say Rajiv ..ur use is also good enough to justify a diesel car ), its just because I love driving my littly chevy (I have a Ford Fiest 1.4 exi too), but in city like lucknow, i luv driving spark. we used Wagon-r lxi earlier for 10 months n 10000 kms n den we sold it, mileage in city is 12 kmpl with A.C., i am getting over 13.5kmpl all d time with spark in same city n same routh so NO ONE can say mileage depends on Driver n Driving conditions coz driver is same and driving conditions becomes more pathetic in last one year in lucknow like any other city.

Forget about Maruti Service Factor, All u need is a regular service and if service centre is there in ur city then there is no problem, almost all the companies are booking cars prior for service, here in my city New service centre is too good, I am getting very good service though only 2nd service done.

Dear Friends,

I took test drive of following cars and find below my observations :

1) Santro Xing : Driving is very comfortable especially for City ride where low turn radius is good , Space vertically  good for me ( My height 5 feet 11 inch) , Good leg space as well as Boot space. Lookwise shape found very good . Only negitive found is 1) Bumpy ride for rear person 2) Hydraulic power steering which is inferior than Electronic one.

2) Wagnor R LXI : Driving is comfortable , Leg space and Boot space OK. Lookwise Boxy structure which I did not like . No power windows in LXI . Gear shifting is not very good with reference to Santro. Rear seat very short like a bench.

3) Wagnor R LXI DUO :  Half of Boot space is gone due to spare wheel . Did not find much difference while changing over from petrol to LPG. Other observations are same as LXI petrol.

 4) Zen Estilo LXI :  Driving was comfortable as for Wagon R . Lower driving seat . Rear seat is worser than Wagon R.  Power windows are there.  External shape wise much better than Wagnor R.

5) Spark :  Driving is very smooth . Inside space good enough equal to Zen Estilo. External shape is very smooth . plus are Tubeless tyre which good for long drive. Service network is very less , In this case , Maruti is outstanding. Safety wise good feature, new technology features.

6) Swift VXI ( Used CAR ) :  Driving is outstanding . Better leg space as well as Boot space.  Good rear seat , very comfortable. lesser mileage than any of the above CAR.

My ranking on the above Cars except Swift as it is not that segment.

Driving comfort wise ranking : Santro , Spark , Zen Estilo , Wagon R

space wise ranking : Santro , Wagon R , Spark , Zen estilo.

Mileage wise ranking :  All equal within a tolerance of +/- 1 Km/litre.

Cost wise  : All are almost equal except DUO 24K extra due to LPG kit.

I have not tried any of Diesel version.

Dear sunil , as your running would be around 1000 kms its good to stay with the petrol car , i feel you should also try the Hyundai i10 Era

Other than that Go for the Santro Xing followed by Spark LS

Cheers,
Sri

I think the total budget (all inclusive) is Rs.4 lac & the monthly run is 1500 kms, as stated in the first post.

On-road cost of Turbo DLG exceeds Rs.4 lac.  Turbo DLS would fit the budget & is almost as good as DLG.

but isnt there a slight differnce in power and torque  btw DLS turbo  and DLG turbo ??
i feel DLG shud be a better buy , i hope he could stretch his budget!

Maximum Output : DLG & DLX68 PS @ 4500 rpm
Maximum Output : DLS62 PS @ 4500 rpm
Maximum Torque : DLG & DLX13 kgm @ 2500 rpm
Maximum Torque : DLS12.5 kgm @ 2500 rpm

Plus DLG has , Front 2 power windows , central locking and heater com AC (HVAC ) the DLS too has AC but no heater!

Cheers,
Sri

Yes, DLG is better than DLS for the specifications pointed out by you.  The difference in torque in more commonly understood meaurement is... 122nm in DLS & 130nm in DLG both @ 2500rpm.  So DLG delivers 6ps of power & 8nm of torque more than DLS.

Besides, DLG has inter-cooler engine & 14 inches tyre against non-inter-cooler engine & 13 inches tyre of DLS.  Other additional features (other than the ones stated by you) are Front Fog Lights, Rear Wash Wiper etc., and better interiors too.  It costs around 15K (only) more than DLS.

Yes, very true but DLS itself will cross Rs.4 lac (on-road/total cost) & DLG effectively more by 20K.  If one can stretch the budget - nothing like DLG (between the two).
