Now we do not know whether this will give a definite direction to the Nano project. Apparently Karnataka govt has given an offer of 1000 acres of land to TATA motors for their Nano project. This would probably be TATA's second auto factory in the state. Looks exciting.

Not only Karnataka, many other states have also spread out red carpets to welcome Ratan Tata to open his small car plant in their respective states. Tata has finally made a decision to shift from Singur and chances are higher for the Nano project to get transferred to Karnataka.

Has that been decided? There were supposed to be some protests again in Singur after Ms. Banerjee met the governor on Friday from what i know.

October-December quarter is what they say. I'm sure even if they were to launch it now, the production targets are going to be missed for the first few months with them planning to move out of Singur.

No, till now there are no clues about Nano getting delayed. Nano is all set to roll out next month in three versions, standard, deluxe and luxury.

Despite the protest, it seems that Tata Motors will roll out atleast few thousand nano’s. Few dealers claim the number of nano’s rolling out would be between 1000 - 5000. These nano’s would be sold through exclusive retail outlets in few areas while at the remaining place the current dealership will be used. However the till date dealer refuses to take any booking as the uncertainity prevails.

Also Economic Times today reports that Tata Nano would come in three variants not two as earlier announced. The variants of the Nano will be Standard, Deluxe and Luxury. Standard being the low end would come with minimal features. But the luxury variant of Nano will come with long list of features that includes - power window, central locking, tinted glasses, extended reflector, front and rear fog lamps and instrument cluster, trip meter, body colour bumper and door handles, door lock on the co-driver side, slider with recliner, three-spoke steering wheel and double stalk combiswitch.

Tatas have started moving their equipments etc. from singur. Acording to media reports they plan to roll out 1000 nanos from pant nagar and regular production will start from the new location that they are looking out for. Therefore, even if it gets launched this year, it will be a token launch but the regular sales will only commence from next year.

Sad for WB but a wise decision as far as Tatas are concerned.
