i read somewhere splash in replace wagon r and splash will be start from 3.5 lakh . please confirm. is available in 1 lt and 1.2 ltr , when expected to launch please confirm

To my understanding, as I have stated before (post #22), it’s quite unlikely that it will replace WagonR, given the market & popularity it has.  In fact, I won't be surprised if it replaces Estilo, as it has not been able to establish a market for itself - though it is more or less as good as WagonR.

Regarding Splash engine it is undecided as of now but the options are that it may either come with the 65ps petrol engine of WagonR / Estilo or with the 1.2 ltr four cylinder 86ps petrol engine or a 1.3 ltr 75ps diesel engine (Swift). In any case (engine), Splash is expected to come equipped with all the safety features like energy-dispersing frame, airbags, ABS and brake assist in addition to electronic brake force distribution. Electronic stability program might also be offered. It will be practical & ideal compact car.  All this will come at a premium price – ahead of WagonR/Estilo.

can you please suggest a car out of chevrolet aveo-u-va and maruti swift??? will it be a good idea waiting for splash leaving any of the above mentioned cars for now?

Aveo U-VA is priced in the range of Rs.4.20 to Rs.5.38 lac.  It has an engine of 1150 CC that delivers 76ps of power @  5500rpm & 110nm of torque @ 4400rpm.

Swift is priced in the range of Rs.4.06 to Rs.5.21 lac.  It has an engine of 1298 CC that delivers 88ps of power @ 6000rpm & 113nm of torque @ 4500rpm.

Both these cars give more or less same mileage (Swift gives slightly better) - 11/13 in city & 15/17 on highway (depending upon the driving contions & style). Swift gives slightly better mileage.

Of the two, Swift is more preferred/successful car - in fact, even compared to others in its segment. The rear legroom & boot space in Swift are, however, not so comfortable & spacious.  But it is not an issue.

I guess Maruti may price the Splash around its Wagon R, which comes with a tag of about Rs 3.50 lakh. Splash is expected to go on sale in Europe in March 2008, and i guess india will get the splash soon after that.

I am happy about one thing: the car is not as ugly as Wagon R! If Maruti doesn't replace Wagon R with this car, they will kill Wagon R.

I think Suzuki may price it in the range between Wagon R and Swift. I hope it is worth to wait.

WagonR, despite of its ugly/dabba looks, sells like hotcake.  If you compare... against 10 WagonRs sold, 9 Altos are sold & 5/6 Estilos.
