Hi,

I had booked Swift VDI ABS ozone blue on 11 July with an authorised maruti dealer. The dealer is not yet clear on the delivery date.

I came to know from another multi showroom dealer that I could get the same model in two weeks of now if i pay 15K extra. He also added that my dealer had done the same with my booked car as the delivery time is two months.

I am now tired of waiting & thinking of cancelling the booking & going for other car. Is there any way to know that the delivery was delayed from Maruti & had nothing to do with the dealer.

I will really appreciate adivce on this.

Thank you.

Well, I 'm not sure but think that the dealers mainly run the show.  Waiting period in Swift (& Dzire) Diesel is there for sure - around 3/4 months (more for Dzire).

In case you happen to cancel the booking, like indicated by you, you can consider Indica Vista QJD.  It has the same Fiat engine & performs equally good, and so is the fuel efficiency.  Besides, it is more spacious, comfortable and has good interiors & features - all at a cheaper price than Swift.

@Milind - writing to the regional manager will surelt help in clearing the doubts. Also is the 15K considered as booking amount or above the price of the car?

@Binoy - The 15K is extra & dont think it will show in any records.

@Pankaj - This will be my first car & I chose maruti bcoz of the reliability, service & resale value. I didnt get much positive feedback about tata cars in this regard. Also if I did go for the vista, will I get delivery before the swift I had booked? Dont want to wait two more months again.

@ Milind , did you gave 15k rs for your dealer as booking amount or just like that??? forget about the other dealer for the time bieng  , we are asking as what u payed 15k rs for!!

Nextly Swift diesel is a wonderfull car , so no regretts with that!

Normally Swift VDI ABS takes a bit long time to be delivered , coz ABS is not always readily available as the LDi or the VDi , hence the waiting period for the ABS version will normally higher! however i sure you will get ur car this month , just call your dealer everyday and bother him , and ask him wetehr the car has come or not!!

then nextly as Binoy said write a brief note to MSIL India Customer care or the Managers reagrding the late delivery , iam sure it will be of soem help!
Anyways lets hope for the best soon!

good luck

Right thing to do-ask the dealer if the extra 15 can be in terms of accessories that you would buy from them-like alloys etc-if so

- i guess it would be a viable option

-if not and the deal is for 15K as money over the price of the car-get the same if possible in writing or record it over the phone(if possible) and sent a strong worded e-mail to the regional manager.

Maruti realiability & all that is better than Tata's but Tatas are not far behind - they have improved considerably.

I don't mean to advocate for Vista but the fact is that it is a wonderful car - in fact a better proposition than Swift for the reasons explained before.

Yes, you have a point - if you book Vista, the waiting period for you will start afresh; say around 45days.

Regarding that 15K... I too am of the opinion that you rightly refused to pay it.  You can make efforts like Binoy suggested, and at the same time, be prepared for the waiting period - try for the best; be prepared for the worst

I had written to MSIL customer care last month when the dealer told me that it would take more than three months for delivery. I didnt got answer directly from MSIL. But the dealer called me next day to explain that the delay is due to ABS option.

Overall, there is no real transapency in the process. We end up doing business with dealer only & MSIL is only in the background.
