mr. akheel, i have been thinking of buying a fabia ever since its launch news first came to india. have heard a lot of good things about it.

recently, people have started pointing out flaws in the car. that has made me to re-think. would be nice if someone could give me a fair perspective.

You could look into these reviews for Skoda Fabia:

You could also look into the Jan 2008 edition of Autocar. Has good review on the Fabia.

Here's one more good review. However this car has a 1.9TDI engine to pull it. Nice review though.

And do not miss the photos at the bottom of the page.

well thanks a lot for taking tme out to find stuff for me. read all the reviews. but then again, nearly all of them are people who own a fabia abroad. there would definitely be differences between the one there and the one that is coming to india. i vant generalise.

but still, thanks a lot.it is really kind of you people.

id suggest dont go by the reviews. although i do read reviews all the time but you are better off tryin it for yourself.

I am travelling so havent had a chance to see the car myself, my wife has  - and will test drive it in a couple of days.  But so far, here are the pros and cons that we see:

Pros

  • Quality car - shows everywhere, including interiors
  • Even base model Active shows high quality and compares very well with other premium hatches - so this model is price competitive
  • Higher end models, like Ambiente are superbly loaded - this model will be the most popular with the feature conscious buyer
  • High sitting position - can be adjusted
  • 1.4L engine - will be reasonably efficient - can expect 10-12 city driving.
  • 2 years unlimited warranty

Cons

  • Very low clearance - is the lowest of all hatches at 146 mm
  • High cost - will also result in high cost of spares
