For all the fans of  Formula 1, 2007 was a great year. Lots of excitement, both on and off the track.

With new FIA regulations, 2008 promises to be much more fun. More overtaking, driving skills coming to the fore over traction controls and of course, new cars, new drivers all ad up to the excitement.

With most teams having finalised their drivers except the two big ones (McLaren and Alonso), what do you think will be the centre stage of 2008?

Will it be left to Ferrari and McLaren again to fight it out at the opt? of Alonso, and BMW pose any serious challenge to them?

What about teams like Renault, Honda and Toyota?

Wild guesses, wishes, informed speculations all are welcome...

Himashu, don't you have simple questions to ask?

Well, please don't take it ill - it's only a joke (on myself). Cheers.

Himanshu,

Alonso has been confirmed by Renault and Heikki is going to be the second McLaren driver. Force India is also about to announce the second driver, and Fisi looks as a probable guy.

As for the season, yes the ban on TC and Launch Control will make things interesting, but I reckon it still will be a two-way fight between Ferrari and McLaren. BMW though would be really hot this season and I expect them to win races this season on. Renault is all set to gain since Alonso has joined them and brings experience.

The guys who have immense car control will stand out as men among boys and Kimi is surely one of them. Also pin your hopes on Heidfeld, for he is a master when it comes to racing without technical gizmos. Things could have been drastically different had one Mr. Schumacher would be racing still.
It will be a wild fire all through. May the best man win!

True,
This time round I expect a real fight between drivers with more overtaking, more tactics been employed by team (pit stops etc.) and a treat for race lovers.
Alonso is in renault and they have improved the car, although confirmationw ill only come after the winter testing and more so after the first race.
Force India will have a following but I doubt if they will really fight for points this year, although bringing fisichella might help theis cause big time. Apart from alonso Kimi, Fillipe, Nick heidfeld, Hamilton, and Kovaleinen will the guys to watch out for. If at all any one will challenge ferrar or maclaren it will be Nick and Fernando

I would be particularly interested in watching the McLaren drivers Hamilton and Kovalainen battle each other out. We have all seen what Hamilton is capable of but Kovalainen is a superb driver aswell and now given a competetive car will be posing serious competetion to Hamilton.

We can expect much from the Force India team (formerly Spyker and Jordan even before that). But that definitely brings in the India angle to the F1 and it will be interesting to see how they perform. Dr. Vijay Mallya has tried to put together a team of experience and youth with both his drivers Fisichella bringing in his vast experience and Sutil being the young and energetic driver for the team.

Overall we can expect a good and interesting season, with Traction control going away which will aide lot more overtaking and providing more entertainment.

going by the history Mclaren produces a good car every alternate year....and that year passed as 2007....so if mclaren continues the trend it should be no problem for Ferrari.....

michael schumacher the F1 god who drove most of his career without TC had some significant input in the ferrari f1 car for 2009 season......

and ferrari ended the year on a high......and would start it the same way as they ended last year.....

So no doubt that ferrari is the best team to win without any competition......in 2007 mclaren used the modified ferrari engine.....Remember the Spy scandal....its easy to modify an engine and win races but not so if u make ur own engines...like mercedes has to do this time around......

Well BMW's 1 2 finish at Canada comes as a relief to me... watching the two teams (obviously Ferrari and Mclaren) slug it out all the time made the sport boring....

I started watching it ever since Damon Hill and Micheal Schumacher were arch rivals(good old Rothmans.. what memories)

I hope its a closer season this time and BMW being on top... boy am i happy

I feel Ferrari have the edge here guys...

BMW is going to be stronger than ever but the real support must go to Force India... let us see if the guys can make something out of their debut season
