Hi All,

Can anyone tell me what would be the procedure to pay the road tax in pune. Because i have a plan to bring my car form tamilnadu to pune this month. I don't want to change the number plate, where i am going to stay for only 2yrs.

As per the general know-how I have... On relocation, one is required to re-register the car in the new state by paying the taxes afresh (the number doesn't change necessarily).  The lifetime tax paid in the earlier state can be asked for refund - provision for refund on pro-rata basis exists (a lengthy process).

But, normally, especially transferable people do not get the car re-registered to avoid paying taxes afresh each time on transfer.  They somehow manage to do without it.  Incidentally, there is a provision to officially use the vehicle in other state without re-registering it - you need to obtain NOC/permission to do so - but it is for a short period of 6/9 months only.

Hi Vikrant,

Did you bring the vehicle to all stated places, while taking NOC from Bangalore. Is it mandatory to bring the vehicle while obtaining for NOC.

Regards,

Milind

Hi Guys,

I am from bangalore and I have decided to buy HONDA Unicorn. It costs Rs.63,414 in bangalore and it costs Rs.54,603 in pondicherry. The difference is Rs.8811. So I decided to buy from banglore.

I do know how much it will cost NOC in pondy&Road tax in bangalore. Let me know the cost for NOC and Road Tax ASAP.

Thanks in advance.

Suresh

As far as getting an NOC is concerned, it is possible to get it in 2 days through an agent - provided there's no hypothecation lien (finance).

Hey guys,

I was going the thread and got lots of useful infrormation. I am also going through the same issues. Let me just tell you a little story about my bike and NOC. I went to Bangalore for studies in 2002 and took my bike with me. I took the NOC also from my native RTO office in Meerut UP. But I was always in dillema to for my duration of stay in bangalore. Although I spent 5 years there but I didn't use my NOC and I didn't transferred my bike to KA registration but 1 day a genuin COP caught me on the road and I paid life time tax with penalty then and there only. In Bangalore if you just pay road tax, cops dont bother you get you bike re-registered. But soon I shifted to Pune and there Police started troubling me. I contacted Meerut RTO to cancel the NOC to bangalore and issue a new one for Pune but they refused to do that. That time I came to know that taking NOC is just like taking TC from your school. You my registration was cancelled by UP RTO and I was running my bike without registration in Bangalore and in Pune. So then I visited Bangalore Rajajinagar RTO and met Sr. Inspector, same person who caught me on road in Bangalore. he helped me to get a letter from RTO that I never presented my bike for address change or re-registration. Which helped me in getting my NOC cancelled at UP RTO. Now I am trying to get a new NOC but RTO meerut is giving me lot of trouble. But I think I will get it. So my suggestion to lot of people is Do not take NOC if you are not sure of staying for long time at a particular state. and if you have taken the NOC, don waste time and get your vehicle re-registered immediatly with road tax paid. getting NOC is not troublesome. But getting it cancelled is very hard. I used my coonections and got my work done. But not all people are that much fortunate to have connections in RTO. I am soon getting NOC and will be applying for registration at Pune RTo. can anybody help in knowing the procedure and documents required to present at Pune RTO. I dont want to take help of agents. They are blood suckers.
