well ur cars avergae wil get better after the 1st 2 servicings ..so dnt worry.... but honestly..pls dnt expect an avg of abt 15-16 frm the Santro within the City......1-14 wud be a mre reasonable expectation...

after your first servicing you can expect mileage of 12-14 in city and it depends on your driving style and traffic conditions,cheers

To get the best mileage possible, keep the car in good condition.

Also dont drive in a harsh way like immediate pickup and braking. This will reduce the life of your car tyres and also give a low mileage.

Keep the rpm at around 2000.

As my friend as said - don't expect 15-16 from Santro in city driving conditions. Further, to improve fuel average, here are top 5 general tips:

• keep you car maintained
• right air pressure and wheel alignment
• switch off ac whenever not needed
• use clutch only when shifting gears, its a general tendency to keep it pressed drive in the right gear - technically you should drive in the rpm range of highest torque but generally 1800-2400 rpm is good
• some of us either rev up too much on lower gears or drive slow on high gears - both are bad habits

dont worry sir its normal i hv an 2006 model u r getting around 10kmpl, in first 2000 km i was getting an avg of 8kmpl bt its normal as piston needs some mile age to perform wel just wait for 2 services. now i m getting 21 kmpl on highway nd 15-16 in city. simply follow these tips 

*in 1st 2000 kms dont drive more dan speed of 80kmph

*use dis gear shift order

speed          gear shift

0-10             1st gear

10-22            2 gear

22-42            3rd gear

42-55            4th gear

*to get max performance drive at 50-60 at high way,at 70-80 u will be getting an avg of 18-19 on highway

*in city try to b constant an drive at low rpm

*apply brakes whereever needed otherwise use ur cars dragging force for stopping  knw its little bit difficult

*press the acccelerator whenever needed only

last bt not least drive saa.............fe n take all precautions
