Independent McPherson strut with anti-roll bar

Hi,

What does one mean by "Independent McPherson strut with anti-roll bar"? I see that in the current range of sedans in India only Tata Indigo has this "Independent McPherson strut with anti-roll bar" on both front and rear suspension mechanism.

Does this translate to better suspension performance? If so then why do other cars not have the same?

Regards,

Bhushan

Earl S. MacPherson is the person who designed this kind of suspension system and it is named after him. Its the most common one and is used in all the cars especially at the front, its a suspension system, other might have the double wishbone or multi-link suspension at the rear. It just reflects the kind of the suspension used, not the QUALITY, costlier is the car, better are the components used, better is the comfort and the suspension system.
