Recently  checked the car in maruti authorised service station pune, car is in good condition.

Since i brought this vehical 2 months back and never tried for a long drive yet...

You can easily cover this distance on an 800, i have done 650 kms on it without a problem.

The journey can be tiring only if the road conditions are not good.

Hi Shesh,

Maruti 800 is one car which has proven reliable over all sorts of terrain. I drove it non-stop for over 1000km and did not even once did she bat an eyelid. Just make sure that the car is really in a very good shape and only then venture out on such a trip. Get the liquids checked, the wirings, the headlamps, tail-lamps and the wipers.. all the necessary things..

SHESH,

800 KM in Maruti 800 is doable. Important points to keep in mind.

1. ESSENTIAL CHECKS, BEFORE COMMENCING JOURNEY.

   a. RADIATOR COOLENT. Change this, unless it has been changed recently. Carry an additional 1-litre distilled water, in case a top up is required enroute.
   b. ENGINE OIL. Check and change, if required.
   c. TYRES AND TUBES. Check all 5 tyres (including Stepney) for correct pressures. Tyre and tube changing equipment is a MUST carry in the car.
   d. HEAD LIGHTS. Very Important if travelling at night.  Ensure that the lighting is GOOD in both low and high beams. Keep a spare pair, if required (PHILIPS is a good brand).
   e. REAR LAMPS & INDICATORS. Should be in perfect condition.

2. CHECKS DURING THE JOURNEY.

   a. ENGINE TEMPERATURE. Keep an eye on the guage. This should be preferably below the 50% mark. Please stop for some time, if over-heating is noticed. Switch off the engine and allow it to cool down.
   b. FOG FORMATION & CLEANING. Common problem in night driving. Use the Heater to blow off the Fog. If there is no Heater, please wipe off manually. DO NOT DRIVE WITH FOG ON THE WINDSHILD. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.

3. ADD ONS DURING THE JOURNEY.

   a. Carry a blanket / wear thick clothing (if overnight driving) - keeps you and your co-passengers warm.
   b. Carry good amount of drinking water. Avoid eating HEAVY food at road side DHABAS on the Highway.
   c. MOST IMPORTANT. DO NOT FALL ASLEEP ON THE STEERING.

YOU ARE DRIVING SUCH A LONG DISTANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME. PLEASE REMEMBER - HIGHWAY DRIVING IS NOT JUST SPEEDING. IT IS AN ART. AND YOU NEED TO LEARN IT.

HAVE A SAFE AND ADVENTUROUS JOURNEY.

Regards.

Narasimham.

hi frnd,

well if u have checked the car with the service centre than its absoulutely fine , just enusre the following things b4 taking it out for long drive

air pressure keep 1 psi less than recommended. bcs air inside gets expand due to tyre heating in long drives

coolant and oil levels , brake fluid , ensure that radiator fan is properly working,  well and keep extra tyre in good condition thats it , and refuel the car in a good petrol pump and take break after every 100 kms so tyres and enginem , brakes everythng cools down and works effectively ,,

800 is a reliable car , shesh so just take wid out tension but remember one thng dont keep heavy wights on the roof carrier in long drives ,

No problem with the M800, it is capable of much more than that, just check whether the tyres are in good shape...... rest is OK as you recently got it checked.
