Bought the Hyundai Santro Xing GLS LPG in December 2008  The only reason to bought this Santro ECO was the LPG kit, by thinking that to reduce my fuel expenses. But the out come result leads me absolute disappointment. It returns mileage between 6 and 8 kms/lt in the city and 10 kms/lt on the highway. These figures are very very far from the given Hyundai Santro Xing GLS LPG prospectus. Before I bought this, I compared with WagonR Duo, by personally and by taking views from users and experts from CARWALE.COM. Even though I bought this because of brand name and faith on service of HUNDAI. But I duped and after I bought this car only I could realised that how much mistake I made. I know HUNDAI is a successful car maker, but not LPG car. Comparatively VAGON R Duo is giving better mileage in the city as well as on the highway!

And the surprising thing is, here in Bangalore, no service center, either TRIDENT or ADVAITH, wasn't ready to take this as a complaint. Even they didn't have the KIT to check the mileage with LPG. They are simply put their hands up and telling that they couldn't do any thing with LPG mileage and there is no answer for my question "How to improve LPG fuel economy / mileage". These service centers are thinking that the service means, water wash and changing engine oils. They don’t bother about the other things, particularly when we went for free service. The customer care cell is also not bothered about the same. There is no response from them. WHAT TO DO?

Till today, I am thinking, I am the only person effected & harrased by the HUNDAI service center, today I came to know, there are many, who had bad experience with these HUNDAI service center. Actually, HUDAI, South Koria based company. South Korians will give preority to service. But the unfortunate thing is, the service oriented organisation doesn't look in this HUNDAI service centers.

I am cordially welcoming you people to speakout with your bad experiences. Some how it will help others to serivive better.

Hey Srinivasa, my experience is quite similar. Have you been able to sort out the mileage problem? It would be useful as my new Xing LPG is also giving only 8-9 km/l in Delhi

Hi Friends,

If you are not satisfy with the product, don't take a light. complaint to Hyundai Motor Co. Ltd.

not through phone, email.  Write a letter, they will definite contact you and they will take it seriously.  They are running big company, but in lower level we all are ignored.

If you approach higher officers, they will sure take care of your any problem,  only thing, you have to write a letter describing your problem with top most person.

I have experience with Honda Motor, they respond very well.

Write to Indian office and make a copy to Head office at South Korea.

After all it is our hard earned money.

Address is as below:

M/s Hyundai Motor Company

Seoul, 137-938

South Korea

+82-2-34648719 (Fax)

Concern Person:

President-Sales, Co-Chief Executive Officer, Director

Indian address you will find in your car manual, and remember  always favour to your dealer, generally they(company) pass all the errors to dealers, later we will not get any thing.

Keep the photo copy of all your letters.

best of luck.

Thanks Sandeep, I have already lodged a complaint with the company at their tollfree no. and someone contactetd me today seeking information on poor mileage on petrol. When told that I was referring to LPG mileage, I was told that someone else will contact  me later, but no one has done so yet. Will keep the forum posted about this. The mail information abt the parent comapny might just help.

The factory fitted LPG variants of these popular petrol cars seem to be returning far less economy than one would expect and this is now becoming an issue. The smallish tank sizes and economy don't really help either so you're tanking up much more often than you wished. (And in the Wagon R, the spare tyre positioning is an absolute disaster! You really lose valualbe boot space.) I've run an Alto in the past on LPG which was a retro-fit kit. It did have a noticeable performance drop but it returned decent mileage figures.

dear friend, most of us opt for lpg  considering its low running costs and about the fuel efficiency they casually say 2 km less than petrol mileage.

and you knoew there are two types of lps system..ordinary as used in santro and wagon  and other one the sequential system which costs around 40-45k.the advantage of this system  as per the dealers is that  they have the same pickup and mileage of petrols...

The only cars coming with sequential systems are cedia and spark....now see the ARAI mileage of spark lpg(13+) and petrol(18+).there is huge 5 km difference.so the difference will be more with using a conventional lpg system as in ur case.

.

earlier i had read some where that wagon r duo gives only 9km/l.

so on the point of economy there in nothing much you can gain...but as you ve brouht the car after the company and dealer assuring you low running cost (and u ve paid xtra for lpg)and you are not getting it,surely you can sue them.for taht keep their brochures or ads in newspapers mentioning the economy of the car.i'm sure that if u have enouh evidents that the company advertised the   low running costs, you can easily win the case..

NB:HERE THE COMPANIES ARE EXPLOITING THE MISCONCEPTION OF PEOPLE THAT LPG IS VERY CHEAPER TO RUN.

Dear Friends,

I also had the same experiance with Santro Dealers at Pala,Kottayam(Kerala).

I was planned to buy Santro LPG  four months back I booked it at Popular Hyundai,Pala.

I paid Rs.1000/- as booking amount, after one week when i was about to take delivery they played a game by increasing the car price by Rs.3000/- and tried to cheat me.I refused to take the car and I lost Rs.1000/-,the booking amount.

Then I went to purchase Wagon R Duo Lxi,which is giving 12KMPL on LPG which is good.

I would consider myself lucky not to purchase Santro LPG because of its Poor Mileage and worst service.Driving comfort is also much better on Wagon R compared to the bumpy ride of Santro.

Wagon R Duo is much better and advanced than Santro Eco.
