I have an Ikon 1.6 Zxi which I intend to replace with another sedan. The running of the car isn't much - I take a hatchback to work. I would say - 500 km / month tops - more likely to be around 300 km/month.

I have considered the Sx4 and the City - but I figured that if the running isn't much - why not opt for a used Civic or Accord. Do let me know your thoughts. Linea, Ford, GM cars, Tata cars are not on my radar.

How expensive is it to maintain a Civic? Should I also look at Camry or Corrola?

@ jvalant,

if u get some secondhand civic in good shape than u can go for it or even the corolla.

camry will go above ur budget & why u wan that such big car, whereever ull go parking problems will be there & it will be too big for city use & as a one car only. if u have 2-3 cars & one u keep such big car with occasional use than it is ok else i would say no.

else go in for the new city.

In second hand, Corolla seems to be the best, if in good shape. I guess maintainence of all these cars, new or old would be costly, as they are luxury sedans.

Civic would be a good option, but corolla is in market for longer time, so I guess maintainence on corolla should be less than civic. Camary would also be good but as Deepam correctly points, there will  be more parking and traffic problem than civic or corolla, specially in city. Lancer is also a good option if you get a good deal and if you are interested in mitsubishi. I had one used Lancer for almost 2 years and really liked it.

You can have skoda also as a good option, but I have no idea how it would behave for used car. For a new skoda I will vote definitely. But all these depends on budget too

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Corolla would have the advantage when it comes to maintenance. But the looks are quite bland. On looks front civic rocks. I guess you should go for civic. Parking needn't be an issue as the usage wont be daily.

Thanks. Yea, this will not be a daily use car - mostly weekends or drives to pune. Wht should 2006 -2007 Civic in reasonable shape cost? I like the Corrola but it is rather - umm - staid.

You can check the approximate price (2nd hand market) in your place of location / city through this Used Car Valuation Tool by feeding in the requisite data/details.

Please note... the value so assessed is approximate & the tool MAY not have taken into consideration the current/recent recession - so discount a little & enquire locally too.
