Hello Everybody,

This is nagender from New Delhi, I am driving Automatic cars for last 10 yrs. I have both legs affected with 80% disability, I know the person who design the Hand Control for the CARS at No Profit No Loss basis. Anyone can contact me for this.

Another Piece of Advice to all of you, Do NOT Forgot to have a valid Driving Licesnce. In delhi Its very easy to get one. For other states you may contact you RTO and if you still feels problem in getting it then you may approach to Chief Commissioner for Person With Disability office. Every state has there own office for this purpose.

Since CarWale has removed my contact No. from this blog/forum, I am giving in words "**********************"

Nagender, if someone is interested in getting the car modified, he/she will request you here in the forums to share the details of the person concerned.  You can reply/provide the details suitably (here).  It will benefit others too (in future as well).

Your contact no. is deleted again, therefore.

No offence meant.  I trust you appreciate the concern. Thanks.

I am physically challenged and I need an automatic car.  If I get used car that will help me to overcome financial constraints.  Please suggest me suitable small car of any make.

Thanks & Regards

Sunita

From your write-up, it is not clear to me that you need only A/T or hand control too to get mobile, independent and productive member of society.  But I admire your courage and strong desire to be independent.

Many expert members have already given very useful pointers.

Talking to used car dealers, you will get the feeling that they don't have many options with A/T in 5  lakh range.  Actually, they are willing to pay premium for A/T cars because demand for exceeds supply - not many A/T WagonR or Santoro are sold.  You may get a 15+ years old luxury car with A/T.  But I will never suggest to go far that because it will be more of a headache than help and parts and labor can be very expensive for luxury cars,

I concur with your conclusion to go far i10 Magna A/T.  There is plenty of discounts available for i10 and it should not cost you as much as you mentioned unless you quoted with hand controls.  WagonR with A/T is not worth and will not be cheaper.

Now, next part is how to raise some money to assist your purchase.  May I suggest to you to write a letter to Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, your MP, MLA and Shiela Dixit, since you are from Delhi.  Explain your circumstances with the emphasis that you want to be productive member and how this is an investment rather than charity, like forgiving loans of formers.  There are many new rules for handicapped people, which general public is not aware.  They will Also they get you excise exemption faster.  If nothing works, expose them to TOI and HT etc. with a possible interview.   Remember, a bad man is better than a bad name in politics.  Also contact some NGO which can guide with your special circumstances.

Best wishes.

Brave never fail, coward never succeed.
