Ok,

Deepam's comment has given good insight.

It is right, that after boosting the RPM, you probably donot find Linea to be sluggish & yes, Linea is Powerful then Fiesta. Only thing is that Fiesta Being Lighter, is better in pickup and hence gives a more fun ride while overtaking or in 1st & 2nd gear.  Actually, the Please where is took the Test Drive of Linea, had an open Road where I could race the Car but also had like speed breakers. Once slowing down and gaining the speed again after crossing the speed breaker was frustrating.

Anyway, thanks for the Insights. With this, I shall now not provoke nagetive views to others about Linea.

Finally,  ALL OF YOU, can you rate all 3 Cars out of 10

i.e.

All New Honda Cit

Linea Diesel

Linea Petrol

Ford Fiesta 1.4 Diesel TDCi

Ford Fiesta 1.6 Petrol Duratorq

All New Honda City - 8.5/10

No full marks as it is not perfect and because of the pricing.

Linea Diesel - 8/10

Points reduced for the sluggishness.

Linea Petrol - N/A

Ford Fiesta 1.4 Diesel TDCi - 7.5/10

Points reduced because of the presence of Linea.

Ford Fiesta 1.6 Petrol Duratorq - 7/10

Points reduced because of the better FE in city.

---------

I would say you should talk about negative aspects more as it would give a clearer picture on the car.

Dear Thread members

I have been tracking your thread discussion silently for many days.

Let me tell you all the reason. I was about to book Honda City when I heard of Linea. After lot of analysis & seeing, TDing the 2 cars, I was certain to book Linea.

2 things were stopping me as follows:

1] After Sales Service / TATA Dealers preparedness to handle Linea issues.

2] Engine issue whether the Petrol Engine FIRE is really sluggish as was been expressed in various threads of this site and many more discussion sites.

It took me 45-50 days of thought process, discussion, enquires, advices, etc and finally I have booked for LINEA PETROL EMOTION PACK FLAMENGO RED.

The decision has been very much informed and systematic for me. On one side these discussion thread and many more websites & Car magazines helped me book my dream car.

One the other side, I was lucky enough to discuss with CEO/President FIAT, senior management of FIAT & TATA.

My apprehensions about sales and service were put to rest by visit to the dealership.

In my case, a new dealer was launched, which has state-of the art systems at Faridabad.

It was self-evident that both FIAT and TATA management are this time very serious about the success of LINEA Launch. I am very much confident that this is the best buy at this price.

Rest in next threads and based on question if any. Regards Rajnish Sharma

Welcome Rajnish to CarWale.

Congratulations for Linea - a Good decision. Linea is a VFM/pricing vis-a-vis the package. Pick-up/acceleration isn't very peppy but has good engine/technology & performs very well.

Consider the SX4. It is better than the New City in most areas and a much safer bet than a Fiat car.

Dear friends, Its been great reading comments on this thread. Need help. I have seen both Linea and City quite closely in Gurgaon (repeat humble pilgrimages over the last 2-3 weeks to both showrooms with the family!!!).

To be honest, Linea gained more affection at first sight. However wife points out  (jealousy?) that some parts are rather tacky. For instance the locks on the dashboard storage compartments (co driver) of ALL the cars on display were not smooth. Also the Rear cup holder appeared cheap. I verified and could only agree with her (disappointed!). Also the rear leg room was rather insufficient. Am I analysing too much?

The Son on the other hand is drawing biased lucky draws at home which always favor the New City! A silly doubt - the inner covering on the ceiling was very unstable! Actually went in a good 2 cms at some places when pushed. Is that OK or again is this an overdose of analysis?

Please help I have to close within the next 2 days. If you suggest Honda, then I would go for S-MT. If you suggest the Linea, then should it be Petrol or Diesel? (annual running approx 18,000 kms). Thanks much!

You are not looking too much. It is upto the individual on how much to look in a car. After all you have to live with the car for the next 3/5 years.

18,000 kms an year - Diesel all the way. Petrol would burn your pocket a lot.

@Vikram

Nice insights, thats how one should look a cars!

For your running diesel will be the best choice and in that case the Linea MJD VGT.

Some of the interior bits on the Linea are low rent like the trim that you mention and the panel gaps, but the car comes with a lot of features that the city does not have and at a lower price and in diesel(like climate control/Blue tooth etc).

The linea's front seats slope a bit forward and hence on extended journeys the comfort levels come down. The rear seat hip points are higher and so give the impression of being hemmed in.

The city on the other hand is rather strainght forward, the only con being the high price, and in your case the only petrol option. Also the current issue of ACI carried the news that the City's interior is going to be revised-so be warned.

If diesel is your choice then there are a few other cars that you can consider.
