hi!
after some busy days me and my husband  had finally got a much waited nice weekend   and   my husband finally got sometime   off from work and  he wanted to testdrive the new altis launched  rcently for quite sometime  so this weekend we  could manage to do it   we  had a test drive of both civic and   altis  and this is what is the result of our drives and our comparison of both :

ex-showroom price: Civic 1.8E MT : Rs. 1,100,000
corolla 1.8G MT: Rs. 1,083,000

additional features you get in corolla

alloy wheels
automatic climate control
6-CD changer
6-speakers as compared to 4
power retractible mirrors
audio controls on steering wheel and an additional remote for stereo
electrochromic rear view mirror
front fog lights
additional glove box
multi-information display(trip computer)

Civic 1.8V MT : Rs. 1,216,000
corolla 1.8GL : Rs. 1,209,000

additional features as compared to civic:

HID headlamps with washers
automatic headlamps
8-way powered driver seats with power lumber support
multi-information display(trip computer)
electrochromic rear view mirror

Civic 1.8V AT : Rs. 1,286,000
corolla 1.8VL AT: Rs.1,286,000

additional features as compared to civic:

cruise control but no paddle shifters
H-matic gearbox
HID headlamps with washers
automatic headlamps
8-way powered driver seats with power lumber support
multi-information display(trip computer)
electrochromic rear view mirror

advantage civic: 5-speed A/T vs 4-speed A/T in corolla

corolla has same power at lower rpm and more torque as compared to civic.

Before the TD, they showed me the car that was inside the showroom and explained all the features, engine et all, so that i could really test the car's driving ability while TDing it.

Initial :

The car looks fabulous from outside, looks so damn sporty.
The headlamps are HIDs and not xenons and have power washers in the top model.
The door is very light (unlike my vRs)

enter the cabin, and you'll have mixed reactions.

The speedo is good but cannot be compared to that of the civic)
The steering controls are good too but missed the cruise control on the M/T ( Its there in the A/T)
Head unit is good and has aux input too. However sound quality not that great ( As compared to the stock setup in the vRs

The seats are pretty comfortable and the electrical adjustment is a nice feature.
Auto retract on the mirror useful.
The inside RVM are anti glare and automatic ( Wonder what that means, has a switch on it.)

The rear seats are comfortable with me sitting in the front (i am 6.0)
There is a pretty good trip computer though i dont believe that they are accurate ( Very Few are)

Boot space is nice .
Sliding armrest
Nice spaces around the seat and the centre console ( Lot of storage spaces)

2 Gloveboxes .
However i did not like the feel of the plastic. ( IMO)

Now to the drive

Start the car, The RPM was not stable ( Went upto 2000 then slowly down to 1500 and then after a minute back to 800-900)
Steering is very Light. In fact i felt it lighter than the Honda City ZX
Floor the pedal to the metal , It Started off quite good but later, it wasnt just pushing
Did not feel like a 1.8L 132bhp engine
Felt rather like a 1.5L 100bhp
Turning Radius pretty good.
Brakes : Excellent
The TD car had wooden finishing on the steering ( Hated it)
The car has a good suspension and ride.
Pretty comfortable and absorbs potholes better.
A/c Pretty effective. Had to low
Handbrakes looks filmsy and are akwardly placed. When even it is fully down, it appears they are applied and hands go t

Interesting Liya - i happen to read this review elsewhere- at Team-BHP.com , becasue i am also a Bhpian by the pseudonym 'TOR'.

Could you clarify please- the poster at Team-BHP is abhinav_gupta88-another Bhpian who has done the TD on the 9th September.

Here is the link

Now Abhinav is a 19year old male from Delhi and has a Skoda VRs-so kind of opposite to your demographic.

Liya please clarify about this report as plagarism carries legal undertones in a public forum like this.

Well… well, Ms Liya Reddy, this is SERIOUS.

In fact, I did get this feeling when I read your above post (before reading Binoy’s remarks) and also in the past while reading through your earlier posts/reviews listed below:

Briefly speaking, please desist from doing so in future. Hope it’s clear enough.
