CNG OR LPG Confusion

Hi All,

I really like the comments and advices in the community and all you people are doing great job. But I am confused in selecting the alternative fuel for my car.
I am having Zen LX 2002 model i contact the maruti dealer and he told me that they will fit BCR CNG kit in my car. Things which worrying me are as follows:

1. The performace of the car reduces and the boot space is totally eaten by the CNG cylinder. But the cost of CNG is less in comparision with petrol. But as we all know that Engine capacity of ZEN is around 999 CC which will further reduce after getting CNG installed in my car. I read one comment which stated that he needs to shift to second gear at time to climb flyovers and there are lots of flyovers in delhi, which i really dont want to happen to me as my parents alsp drive the same car.But on the other hand I will get good millage and better saving but above mention things pushes more towards LPG.

2. Converting to LPG will not reduce my engine power much in comparision with CNG and its conversion cost is less too, but having said that the cost of LPG is what i have read is around Rs 35 or Rs 36 which just Rs 10 less than the cost of petrol in delhi. The millage is also less if i use LPG in comparision with Petrol and CNG. I have read few comments which state that, if the car millage running on Petrol is 12KMPL than the car running on LPG will give only 10KM. This confuse me further to select from LPG or CNG. But the running cost of LPG is lesser than Petrol.

Kindly advice me taking all the above points in my mind. My car shape and model. My drive distance , Is it true that if i go with LPG the millage of my ar reduce even lower than petrol. What is the current LPG price in New Delhi.
Hope to get response at earliest.

Considering the current day prices and the way things are shaping up wherein even domestic LPG is getting costlier by the day - I personally feel that you should go for CNG.

Infact, the price pressure on LPG is so much that probably they may completely ban it's usage for auto purposes - a single LPG cylinder costs the oil companies as much as 700 rupees - but they are forced to sell it 350 rupees or thereabout because of restrictions brought in by the government - The day is not far when we will see LPG getting banned for usage in automobiles.

Suggest you to go for CNG.

Cheers.

It depends upon your running per month if it high you should go for CNG but it will not give you comfortable driving while LPG will do like petrol and still save your money. It is true that LPG prices are on ahike but be remember that petrol cost is actually 65 /liter if neglect subsidy

LPG reduces performance (power/pick-up) of the car by approx. 10-15% while CNG reduces by 20-15%.  This, however, depends/varies on LPG/CNG Kit, Retrofittment quality, Maintenance, etc.

Normally LPG is preferred in small cars while CNG is preferred in bigger & more powerful cars.

ya the price of .AutoGas (LPG) in other countries is flat half of Petrol..which is equal to Diesel if we remove the subsidies from it.

true price of domestic lpg cylinders is highly subsidised/controlled ............... but perhaps mr prasad is not aware that auto lpg has neither any subsidy nor any govt price control

in fact ........ of th four ... petrol .. diesel ..... domestic lpg ... & ..... autolpg ....................... the oil companies are making huge losses on sales of petrol . diesel & domestic lpg ........................ while auto lpg is th only one on which all companies are making handsome profits  ........................ that explains why .. reliance has stopped sales of petrol n diesel from its pumps ... but continues to sell autolpg.

nobody kills th goose that lays th golden egg !

say wot karan .?????

LPG yes. U may use CNG too, but you may use the advancer unit which costs approx 3-4K which you can have as much as power as LPG.

Choice is yours.
