Common Rail Direct Injection..

DDIS & CRDI is the same technology with a different name. however, as per the experts the best small diesel available is the fiat 1.3 ltr multijet. which is being used in TATA Vista, MAnza,Maruti Swift,Dzire, Ritz, Fiat Punto, Linea..

Hello guys I also want to put a question here, there is also a TDI engine in diesel, whats that?

I know that TDI is Turbo Diesel Engine and CRDI is Common Rail Engine, but what is the actual difference in these two???

And in which Category these engines falls, like Maruti's Vdi, Tata's Quadrajet...

hi viccky,

Maruti's Vdi, Tata's Quadrajet, Fiat`s Mulijet  are all CRDI technology.

TDI technology is ised in TATA Indigo, Indica TDI cars. Its an old technology where a turbo charger is fitted in a normally aspirated diesel engine to give more power & better FE.

CRDI is relatively new technology.

i hear Fiat could be bringing is Turbo CRDI technology next year which is a next generation diesel & a step up than CRDI

MODS

I just spent 25 minutes typing out a HUGE reply explaining everything, click on 'post' and nothing happens.

I click again and all that appears is what you see above.

THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING, all this effort is wasted.  Please do something about this ridiculous posting issue.
