Hi..

I am going to buy matiz & I want to replace all tubed tyres with alloy as I read it's not advisable to use tubeless tyres with steel rims.

But, is it possible to remove still rims & just use tubeless tyres ?.. If it is, then I won't have to spend too much on alloy.

What will be approximate cost for tubeless tyres (Single) and that of alloy ?

Hi,

I have a 2000 model matiz and I have been running on Michelin tubeless tyres since 2002.  The tyres have done more than 50,000 km and are now 8 years old.  I never have had problems, despite some rash driving, which damaged the side wall of one tyre.  I have not changed the rims, the original steel rims are working fine, despite my driving. If you want to continue with the rims have them checked, by the tyre vendor prior to putting the new tubeless tyres on.

Very recently, two days ago, changed the tyres for another set of michelin tubeless (155/70/13R XM-1).   The first set of Michelin that I had were 155/70/13R and a product named Certis, made in Thailand. This is an oversize compared to the original factory fitted.(145/70/13R I think).

Tubeless tyres in Delhi cost upward of Rs. 1750/- per tyre (JK, I think) to Rs. 2,650/- for Michelin ( I managed to get it at Rs. 2,500/- per tyre).  Have fun, the Maztiz is a great car

Just get your rims checked for Rust/Crack/Bend. If there are no such problems, you can very well switch over to Tubeless without any worries.

Happy Driving!!
