I have a Palio ELX 2001 model. The car has done around 45,000 KMs and is in good condition for its age. For last six months I am feelling that it is not as peppy as it used to be and on uphill I have to take the car to a lower gear. But it has not given me any problems as such and its more than a year since I saw a mechanic other than oil change.

My monthly run has increased to around 400-500 KM per month (Majorly Delhi-Noida commuting) and thus I want to get CNG installed. However I have doubts whether it should be installed on such an old engine.

Please advice whether it should be installed or not?

Second, What are the things that I need to take into account when deciding. Also which kits are more desired?

Third, if I get it installed, and it doesn't work out - can the same kit be installed on another car - I am planning to buy a Swift or Manza mid next year?

Thanks guys!

400-500 kms per month is not strong enough reason to go for CNG.You will require ages to recover the cost of kit with such low running. If your running is going to increase to about 1000kms per month than go ahead with it.

Correction - My monthly run is 1600-2000 KM. 400-500 KM is weekly run and I forgot to multiply it by 4.

The question is - is it advisable given the condition of the car?

Yes its advisable as its has not done a lot of running. If you are planning to keep it for atleast 3 years than go ahead.

you can certainly get the car converted to CNG but what about RTO endorsement? If you want to sell the vehicle next year then tell the dealer he will assist you

I would not sell the vehicle. It's not worth 60-70K today. However I would still like to get it endorsed as I would like to have insurance in place etc.
