Hi All,

I am planning to buy a new car (My first car). Can somebody please advise me how is new estilo. I know that older estilo did not have good reputation & want to know more about this new estilo with new K series engine & 3 cylinders. I am not a very technical guy but some people are saying that 3 cylinder cars are not worth buying. They dont get pick up if 5 people sit in the car & AC is on.

I have been suggested by most people to go for Marutis car & so we went for test drive. I dont know driving so my freind did the favor for me. He was impressed with the pick up & new gear box of new estilo but 2 things that he has asked me to confirm are 1) how are 3 cylinders going to effect the car & 2) existing reputation of older estilo is really bad. We went for test drive of Wagon R also but I personally did not like it while sitting in the back. It felt like a bumpy drive. I know though Wagon R sells like hot cake but since I it is my first car I am not sure which one to buy?

Can anyone suggest me if new estilo is worth buying & about 3 cylinders?

thanks

Thanks Sandip for your reply. Did u get a chance to test drive it ? & Do you think buying it will mean having a very low resale value since older Estilo has low resale value bcoz of bad reputation.

Gaurav,

I think its too early to talk about resale value of the new Estilo. This car has just come to the market.

How long do you intend to keep the car? If it is >3 years, I suggest you do not worry about resale value. That is something you can never predict.

As Sandipan said, the K-series engine is extremely refined.

Cheers,
Naveen

i did the test drive yesterday. and i shld say its impressive for a small car segment. its smooth, less noisy. the pick up is not that great u know na! like vrooom!!!but once you in 2and 3rd gear its sails. handling is nice and seating postion is too good. i drove previous estilo of one of my friend and i sould say its different in the new one. maruti lost their charm in the small segment with zen estilo but now they are trying to regain it back. do a test drive yourself and you would get to know. its perfect for city drive and fuel mileage is also good they are claiming 18.2 kmpl.

Thanks Naveen & Sandipan. I do plan to keep it for 5 years. Thanks a lot for your views! I am a bit more confident to buy it. I was really given a lot of bad feedback about the previous estilo so was really confused. Even my friend who did a test drive of new estilo was impressed with the car.

Gaurav i am also looking for first car and could see that Estilo is good car...thought Maruti has jacked up the price but than still it is one of the best one...

i had also taken test drive and could found everything in place...you might see better pricing around diwali thats my gut feeling as price wise its not getting properly placed against i10, Ritz etc...

Hi Gourav,

Please don't be biased about Estilo. Earlier was a good one. It's only a general idea runs around spreading one to onother that that was not a good car. Ask people like me who own it. And trust me new one is even better.

@ Sandipan,

Please just don't say bad words about Zen Estilo like any other who never had a feel of it. most of its critics call it "bad car" because others say so. It's just like calling all photocopiers Xerox machine because others say so.

@ gaurav,

yes the new estilo makes a good sense of buying as the new one looks much better than the older one & has maruti's latest generation engine.
