1. i20 will have the edge

2. i20 will run 12KMPL. Swift will give you more or less the same.

3. Both would be at par.

4. Subjective - On the whole i20 again.

5. Swift having a teeny edge.

i20 is more sturdy, but swift is more peppy, slightly more fuel efficient, selling like hot cakes and is cheaper.

Swift has dull interiors compared to i20. However the i20 model you are considering is a snail compared to swift.

Swift has awesome front seats and is a pleasure driving it. It is well planted on the road.

As your run is not substantially high plus comfort is not heavily compromised in Swift. My vote for Swift as it is cheaper and you can spend the amount on good ICE(you would need it for sure) and some basic acccessories.

PS: There is a dark horse, Punto. It is a good one to consider if you are not very tall.

Also, in your budget Swift VDi ABS can also be thought of.

Hi

For ur usage u can consider a diesel engine.

Here are few options.

Option 1

Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 Emotion( Mumbai ) on road price Rs 6,43,373.

Option 2

Hyundai i20 Asta( Mumbai ) on road price Rs 6,51,228.

Option 3

Maruti Suzuki Swift VDi ABS (Diesel)( Mumbai ) on road price Rs 5,98,001.

Option 4

Maruti Suzuki Swift GLAM in Mumbai on road price Rs 5,26,642.

Comparision

Take a test drive of all these cars 2 known which suits u most.

This will help during test drive

As festive season is just around the corner u can get great discounts.

Note -

I20 has a waiting period of 45 days.

Swift has a waiting period of 3 to 4 months.

Punto has a least amount of waiting period.

Fiat cars are handled by tata.Fiat has a service interval of 15000Km.

Why go for a petrol when u can get a diesel at the same cost.

The Fiat diesel is the international award winning engine which is used in punto, linea, swift, ritz, swift dezire and vista in India and many others abroad. The running costs and maintenance cost are also cheap and almost similar to petrol.

Swift petrol and diesel are due for a upgrade.

I20 has overpriced its petrol asta

Fuel Efficiency City/Highway

Punto Diesel 13.7/17.5 kmpl

Swift Diesel 14.4/19.1 kmpl

Swift Petrol 11.5/16.2 kmpl

I20 11.2/15.5 kmpl

Hi

Punto is definetly Vfm car but looking for the best Tata/Fiat Showroom and workshop to avoid complication.Have at look at the workshop.

WASAN MOTORS-DEONAR (TATA-FIAT DEALER) is doing a good job for Fiat Cars! in Mumbai

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-drives-initial-ownership-reports/56200-fiat-linea-my-dates-red-emotion-al-beauty-fire-3-months-5k-kms-report.html

Fiat servicing is under taken by Tata.

The servicing intervals are also different from other manufactures.

First servicing 3000 Km or 3 months

Second servicing 15000 Km or 1 year.

Service interval every 15000 Km which should not be much of a problem.

A extended warranty upto 4 years for Rs 5500 is a definte buy for a peace of mind and word of trust from Fiat..

The quality of interiors is not as bad as u think.Only the quality of fitting is not upto the standard.

My previous account got hacked or someit I can't seem to use it anymore.

@ Ami - you seem to be biased towards the Swift , I can see why although.

But if power really isnt wot i need and i20 quick enough for me, does that change things ?

Wot does 'ICE' mean ? IF you're referring to the audio systems yeah I'd like Blaupunkt speakers if I can afford it though ( a BIG IF if i go for the i20)

@ Binoy - Mate you're right, bang on target. Will i regret going ahead with i20 ? I dunno much about cars & im more than willing to learn... but don't wanna suffer buying the wrong stuff.

@ Bhardwaj - The Fuel effieciency & interior Comforts of Punto are a nightmare or so I hear. Of course, it scores high on looks & sturdiness any day.

Punto petrol has a bad FE, however the diesel has quite a good FE.

@ Ami - you seem to be biased towards the Swift , I can see why although.

I though I'd given an unbiased review. Anyways I would like to know the why part, still....

But if power really isnt wot i need and i20 quick enough for me, does that change things ?

If you are totally satisfied with the power, then i20 it is....

ICE - In Car Entertainment.

Blaupunkt is in the budget range. Wont be that costly.

Go for the i20 if your heart is set on it.  Remember the Swift is mod-friendly with its 1.3 petrol engine which is very widely used - so if you think you will be modifying the car in future, the Swift is the way to go.  It is also cheaper & good VFM because you get fairly decent stuff for the money you pay.  The rear is cramped and uncomfortable.

If your heart is set on an i20 then the Punto is not really an option - it doesnt come close on any front except the looks, and then again looks are subjective.

Keep those wheels turning!

@ Bhardwaj - No i haven't. The Punto was never an option cuz of awful fuel efficiency.I didn't ignore your option on purpose, I'm just not okay with it mate. Sorry.

@ Ami - I'm kinda drifting towards the Swift for now. and I can see you're biased for the same reasons a LOT of Indian consumers are, its DAMN GOOD a car. No offense

The Swift salesman said his car beats the i20 hands down.

The Hyundai sales dept guy said "it's a very close call & a personal choice".

Anyways thank you guys for the inputs, I  will take a test drive this week and update you fellas, if anyone is interested that is. Thanks again.
