1. Please note that the Scorpio 4x4 is only available against specific orders and then after a long-ish wait.
2. Within 9-11 lakhs your available 4x4 option for brand new would be a Safari EX or GX 4x4. The GX has ABS, which is the only additional feature over the EX that you would really want. The rest is cosmetic, but the ABS does really help on the Safari. The GX costs nearly a lakh over the EX.
3. Usage within the City - the Scorpio is easier to manouvre due to its shorter overall length, the very short bonnet and the seating position that is practically at the windscreen. The Safari is longer, has a larger turning radius, a longer nose and you sit back in it.
On the highway and off the road, the Safari is easily the best of the pack.
4. Be aware that all three vehicles are 5-seaters at best. The rest of the seats are meant for contortionists and little children. The Safari is very definitely a 5-seater with 2 useless jump seats in the boot.
5. If primary driver is 'Image' then you should look at the Endeavour - remember however that it is VERY uncomfortable (especially for those in the middle and rear), has a harsh rear suspension that will reset your bones and is very high on maintenance. The used Endeavours you get within your budget will also be the older, wheezy 2.5 litre engines that can hardly move. Image is all you will get.
For bullying, the Scorpio would be the best as it carries the 'real estate rowdy' image that will scare off most people. It is also the second-most-favourite bad-boy vehicle in Bollywood after the infamous Omni (which my son refers to as the 'kidnap-car').
6. Be aware that you're looking at vehicles that will require more attention and maintenance than your average city car. The Scorpio and Safari also require you to visit your authorized dealers more regularly than you might like, though the cost of maintenance for both are very reasonable. The Endy is high maintenance - it may not require so many visits to Ford, but each visit will cost you a packet.
To sum it up, if you're willing to compromise with a 4x2 then go for the Scorpio since your use is primarily in-city. If you require a 4x4 that is capable of more-than-average offroading, look no further than the Safari - I speak from experience, this truck can take on some serious terrain without causing any discomfort to those inside the vehicle.
I will not recommend an Endeavour for any purpose other than 'image' - something it has bucketfuls of. If you're okay with occassional usage for 'image' purposes and are ready to keep it garaged on most days, you MAY consider the Endeavour.
For 11 lakhs, you may also get the older generation Mitsubishi Pajero (used) which is a pretty capable vehicle in its own right. If you're willing to consider this option, then be prepared to search and wait because there are very few of these out in the market and getting one used and in good condition may be an issue.
Keep those wheels turning!
