If the Honda Jazz is within your budget, I would recommend that you take a test drive of the i20 CRDi as well because that wonderful diesel comes within the Jazz budget.

Of the lot, I would prefer the i20 as it is without doubt the best large hatch in the market today - this is of course my opinion and this is primarily I think it offers the best of everything:  styling, space, interiors, support & maintanance experience.  If you're willing to compromise on interiors and go with very basic interiors at a premium then you could look at the Jazz.  If you're willing to compromise on interior space, quality and build quality but get VERY good VFM then you would be looking at the Swift.

If you have swift in your consideration than you should surelly think of Ritz also as an option as it has the best petrol engine among all the premium hatches available as per ACI

Also if you can wait for 3 months than VW Polo is the car to wait for as it will have the world class 1.2 tsi engine

In your budget you can easily get most preimum hatch in Indian market. Jazz Vs i20 is an interesting comparision. At one side you have Honda brand premium, build quality and reliable service and other hand equally good build quality and service.

i20 has better features (alloy, keyless entry, steering mounted control, leather steering etc) than Jazz but then Jazz is from Honda. The difference is 1.25 Lakh and worth of paying that much difference is the question that you need to ask yourself.

In long term diesel vehicle have more maintinance compared to petrol vehicle it is my aprihention. I20 CRDI Magna can be considered. i20 asta petrol on road cost 6.33 lakh and i20 crdi magna 6.98 lakh ( Surat). Which one shall be better. I read some where in the Forum that i20, 1200 kappa under powered. Ritz have very good engine but I can not digest back look of the Ritz.

Dear Dixit

The apprehension that diesels require more maintenance is what one might call a 'legacy issue' - which was true in the past primarily due to retrofitted diesel engines in older cars.

A modern day diesel is as maintenance-friendly as the petrols, are as reliable and dependable.  Take a test drive of the i20 CRDi and I think you will be suitably impressed.

The 1200 Kappa is as underpowered as any of its competition - NONE of the 1.2 petrols in the market are really driveable and you will feel shortcoming most on the highways even though there isnt much of a perceptible difference in bumper-to-bumper city traffic.  Therefore my advice to you would be to look at the diesels - drive one and feel the difference.

i 20 is real VFM when we compare it with Jazz. But Jazz is from Honda & you get that badge at premium !!. Also you can consider GP & Fabia . Both these cars are having solid build quality & ride , handling. I doubt whether i20 & Jazz can be comparable in that respect. Yes i 20 & Jazz have better ASS compare to Fiat & Skoda.

Thanks!

Having read lot of reviews on Carwale & getting so much +ve feedback (online as well as off-line) I am getting inclined to opt I-20 Asta petrol keeping in view my daily running is less. If any other good option, may kindly also suggest. Budget is not constraint for Diesel vehicle. I can stretch budget for I-20- 1400- CRDI- Magna. My daily running is about 15-20 KM. Will Diesel vehicle suit my requirement?
