Hi

Scorpio

Owners liked

  • Butch styling and presence
  • Outstanding diesel engine
  • Robust build quality. Abuse-friendly nature
  • Light & easy to drive in city
  • Cheap cost of ownership

Owners disliked

  • Cramped interiors
  • Unsorted ride and handling
  • Poor fit / finish levels

The smaller yet significant things

  • SLX version has voice warnings which can get annoying!
  • Small glove box lacks practicality.
  • Stock wheel cap design is good and almost passes off as alloys!
  • Passengers complain of a "wafty" light feeling at speed.
  • Engine noise level is well controlled on the inside.
  • Firm long gearshift takes getting used to.
  • Some ergonomics are horribly messed up.
  • Lack of roof-mounted vents for the air-con is a drawback.
  • Air-con vents offer limited adjustment.
  • Middle row is adjustable for length and recline.
  • Big mirrors offer good visibility.
  • Middle-row seat is prone to rattling.
  • In true Mahindra tradition, large potholes hardly deter the Scorpio.
  •  Fuel Efficiency

    9.9 (City) / 13.1 (Highway)

    Upkeep Costs

    Below average

    Overall Reliability

    Good

    Problem Areas

Smokey exhaust, overheating, power steering, electricals, alternator, gearbox vibrations

    Resale Value

    Good

    Innova

    Owners liked

    • Utility value and versatility
    • Multiple seating configurations
    • Interior space and comfort
    • Competent engine range
    • Balanced ride and handling

    Owners disliked

    • Slightly overpriced

    The smaller yet significant things

  • A true multi-purpose vehicle, that can suit many purposes.
  • Big size can intimidate in the city, but small turning radius helps.
  • Double air-con recommended. Single air-con can get insufficient on hot summer days.
  • Parking sensors are a highly recommended option.
  • Thick A Pillars hamper visibility.
  • Captain seats on 7 seater versions are supremely comfortable.
  • The drivers seat has poor thigh support for long drives.
  • Middle row seats recline for added comfort. Can also slide front / back.
  • High stance leads to easy ingress / egress.
  • Upholstery is very durable and can withstand abuse.
  • Minimal cargo space when all three rows are used. Roof rack is the only option.
  • Two-din stereo system can play MP3s. Big plus!
  • Stock speakers offer average sound quality. Upgrade recommended.
  • Power steering is well-weighted.
  • Shockingly, wing mirrors do not have internal adjust facility on all, except the fully loaded variant.
  • Fuel Efficiency

    2.5 D : 10.2 (City) / 13.4 (Highway)

    Upkeep Costs

    Excellent

    Overall Reliability

    Good

    Problem Areas

Excessive smoke from some diesel Innovas, oil leakage, vibrating windows, battery failure, horn, stock speakers

    Resale Value

    Excellent (Diesel)
