hello ppl,

I have bought a ford fiesta few month back and it happened so that while parking, the car got some scratches and a dent. the workshop guy told me to claim insurance as the total cost could come around  8 to 9 K. after all the repairs when i asked him how much did u claim for he showed around 22K. actually he also worked on few small scratched caused by kids which i had never asked him to work on. is this a cause of concern.

i have heard that car insurance blacklist customers making regular or ingenuine claims but not very sure. i would really appreciate if ayone could share ther experience, knowledge regarding blacklisting.

in short what can be the extent to which u make claims and not get shortlisted.

Thanks

You can lodge claims for such damages too.  You will have to lodge the claim before undertaking the repairs for obvious reasons.  There is no restriction on number of claims you can lodge.  Insurance companies deny/reject claims if found bogus.  If so, it may shortlist in one instance itself.

Archit,

your concern is somewhat correct because insurance companies can load your premium on renewal if number of claims are more during a policy year. In your case it looks like the reason for claim is adequate and proper so you should not have any problem. however, in insurance terminology, you might be questioned for having "morale hazard" which means being indifferent to any damage to your vehicle because you have an insurance buit this does not mean blacklisting in any way.

As far as blacklisting is concerned, only those customers are blacklisted by any company who are found to be involved in major frauds otherwise companies generally do not blacklist any one. Yes, as I already mentioned, premium might be increased on renewal.
