I'm planning to drive down from HYD to BLR sometime in Sept alone. Was a bit apprehensive about the whole idea, but was told that the highway and drive will not be a problem.

So if anyone has drive, I'd love to hear your experience. Please share with me.

Driving alone is something that I would not suggest. You always need a co-driver, to talk, to give company, and to watch the road. So please take a friend along with you.

I had recently taken this drive with a close family friend and her husband. The vehicle was a swift. We started around 7 from hyderabad. Stopped at the airport for breakfast. Bought some cd's, water and snacks for the road.

The route is quite picturesque. The roads are quite lonely and there weren't much traffic. The climate was mostly cloudy. The roads were quite clear without much traffic. We drove with a speed of 80-140. There was a stretch of a road for around 100 kms where we could maintain 140.

The roads are quite good except for a stretch of 50 kms. There will be deviations on the road as the doubling of the road is currently undergoing. So be agile and alert.

PS: Stock your car for water, soft drinks, chips, biscuits and fuel before you hit the highway.

The drive took us around 9-10 hours.

May be OT: This i can't digest, you mean you did maintain 140 for 100 km or you could maintain. though i have no exprince of this road but just asking out of curiosity.

And I was a lil OTT(Over the Top).

Here is the thing: There was this stretch of almost 100 kms. Two lane traffic with smooth curves. The roads are too smooth that you feel 80-100 to be very slow. I was constantly maintaining 120-140 on that road.

Thx Ami for sharing your experience. Just a few curious questions...

Are the directions well put up on the highway? No chances of getting lost?

I guess stopping at shamshabad for breakfast is ideal, what about the other pit stops?

Did you need to pay any tax when entering Karnataka state? Was your vehicle stopped anywhere for any kind of checks?

BTW I'll be going along with my wife, the only issues is that I'll be driving for the whole journey. So will have someone to chit chat..

Ideally breakfast should be from the city. We went there because of McDonalds

There are decent stops for chai and food. However stocking the car is better.

Ensure you have ample music for the road.

The max I have driven is 450 kms. That was Bangalore to Kerala. This one is more than that. Taking a break every one hour would be good. Just ask your wife to spot the locations for photos.

There aren't much confusions on the road. There is a small township where you can be confused, but you can ask ppl out there.

The car was not stopped at the checkpost.

Drive with the AC on. That will make the drive less tiring.

Last but not the least: Ensure your car is in a good condition.
