Hi all,

I had transferred my car from AP to Mumbai. After a long time wait (5 months) and all the hardships, I recently got my car registered in mumbai (by myself), just 1 week back. Now due to my job profile i will have to shift to chennai in few weeks time

Please could anyone tell me the procedure to get noc in mumbai.

1. how much weeks will it take ?

2. what about the tax and octroi which i paid here in mumbai rto ?

3. do i need to get clearance from traffic control room and commissionarate as in other cities? or the process is different here?

Thanks in advance...

  1. It normally takes 45 days (big cities).
  2. You can seek refund (pro-rata) after you get the car re-registered in Chennai by paying life-time tax, as applicable there.
  3. The process is same to my understanding.

Thank you Pankaj for the reply...

The RC being "Smart Card" (All info/history stored in chip) , is it easier to get NOC..I mean, is the process easier than before?

Regarding seeking the refund, should i come back to mumbai to initiate this process? or is it possible to do it from chennai after registering it there?

I think the procedure & all that would take same time.  You request some friend/relative in Mumbai to help you get refund through a good/reliable agent (else it may be cumbersome).
