I think you are referring to LPG as GAS (because of price quoted above) . Well...cost effectiveness depends on your monthly run.

For Example; If Your monthly run is 1000 km,your fuel bill of petrol should be around Rs. 5000,on FE of 10kmpl. If you fit LPG ,you'll get 7-8kmpl on LPG(FE is reduced by 2-3kmpl while running on LPG).I tkink LPG is for Rs.28 Per L(rates can differ)so your fuel bill for LPG will  be around Rs. 3800,so you just save Rs. 1200 per month on LPG .If your monthly run is highier its more recomendable(if its highier you save more).

There is another option, you can get A CNG kit ,which comes in about 40k(aproxx),running cost will be better than LPG but in CNG performence will reduce about 30-35%, while in LPG it is 10-15%. Though in detail i don't know about CNG but maintaince is more in CNG than what is in LPG. Cng is only recomendable when you have  high monthly run.

It is what we think we know already that often prevents us from learning.

Power/Performance loss on CNG is around 20% while on LPG it is around 10%.

Please estimate your fuel costs before going in for alternative fuels. If you savings in fuel are lesser than the cost of fitiing any kit, it is not worth the exercise, not worth losing power.

Also check the availibility of LPG/CNG in and around your city.

Your car (Esteem) works well with LPG...and leaves sufficient boot space after installing the lpg tank.
