Both the options look good to me well first one is more better as i have oval Sony speakers(old ones) already installed in Rear. So if i go for first option , it would be great installation for me.

Only question that is buzzing in my mind now after checking few sites about Polk db6501/Hertz ev165 ; it seems that Amp has to be there for this stuff to be there in car. So technically speaking will it be OK to run this setup without AMP as i cannot afford amp for sure. So please guide whether i go without Amp and get this installed. I hope it doesnt lead to any technical/electrical faults

HU: 5050/6050 > what about durability between bill and w/o bill , i hope they are not made/assembled in some local Indian/Chineese factory but not by Pioneer

Front: Polk db6501/Hertz ev165

Rear: old Oval Sony Speakers which are there installed

I am not trying to contradict you in anyways but i want to clear my doubts thats why asking these things in straight manner.

While, a head unit will run two pairs of speakers, it remains a horrible source of power. The tiny amp inside it, puts out abt 15watts per channel while the components rated at 100watts would need like 60 watts to really show their potential. Of the 15watts it puts out, the amp runs out of clean power very quickly. Say about 40% of max on your volume knob.

Thereafter, as turn up the volume further, your speakers are just getting a higher and higher % of distortion in the signal. The effect of this will be that by the time you have turned your volume up to say 60%, your speakers start sounding crappy. That is the distortion. You could hook up the best speakers and they would also sound lousy, driven off the hu at med high volume. But amp these same components be it your db's or the morel supremos and they will come alive.

That is why it is recomemded that you amp your components. Build your system in stages. Know what all you need and then buy in phases. Buy the hu and comps now and then save up like 5K for a decent 2 ch amp and youre set. Oh, and dont run rears.

Get the 6050 hu and chose between the two speakers. I prefer polk. Both are good entry level components.

Arun, this was very informative for me and i like to thank you first for putting up this write up.

So you are suggesting to throw out those rears as they will just squeeze the juice out of HU for nothing. I am a music lover and i think saving money and having a phased  installation will be the way to go from here.

Even i like Polk, i have heard it once and i was impressed , seems much better than 608C JBL. Hertz i have no clue about it.

So can you tell me on the Grey market question that i asked regarding HU, i hope it is fine and is there much difference in between 5050/6050. coz i might save 2k here

I said don't run rears, from a pure sq standpoint. Music is recorded for two channels left and right. So its best reproduced the same way. With only 2 speakers. Your front components and a sub to just play the frequencies that your components are missing out on. This then is the ideal setup. HU+Fronts+Amp+Sub.

Yes, install in a phased manner. First get the hu+fronts then the amp and the sub. both phases would cost you about 15k.

You're fine buying the hu in grey, just buy from a decent outlet.

Can you suggest me some good shops in Delhi where i can get polk db6501 and Pioneer HU 6050 in a reasonable price. I am based in West Delhi and i dont want to go to Driven in East of Kailash as they deal in high end stuff and it might turned out to be heavy on my pocket.

Please suggest some good dealers in New Delhi

Laughing Thats why I dont have a chauffeur. The sound stage and Image I enjoy, more than makes up for the pain of the daily 3 hrs commute.

If you are in the back seat most of the times you can install the mids in back door and the tweets on the centre pillars. This way you will still have the stage in front of you. Yes it would still be one pair of comps.

You can try Elegant iin lajpat nagar. He sells a ton of stuff like pioneer, jbl, alpine, focal etc. He also has three demo rooms one for focal and kicker, one for jbl and one for pioneer stuff.

You can give my ref if you want. He knows me as the guy with the fiesta. Smile
