While, a head unit will run two pairs of speakers, it remains a horrible source of power. The tiny amp inside it, puts out abt 15watts per channel while the components rated at 100watts would need like 60 watts to really show their potential. Of the 15watts it puts out, the amp runs out of clean power very quickly. Say about 40% of max on your volume knob.
Thereafter, as turn up the volume further, your speakers are just getting a higher and higher % of distortion in the signal. The effect of this will be that by the time you have turned your volume up to say 60%, your speakers start sounding crappy. That is the distortion. You could hook up the best speakers and they would also sound lousy, driven off the hu at med high volume. But amp these same components be it your db's or the morel supremos and they will come alive.
That is why it is recomemded that you amp your components. Build your system in stages. Know what all you need and then buy in phases. Buy the hu and comps now and then save up like 5K for a decent 2 ch amp and youre set. Oh, and dont run rears.
Get the 6050 hu and chose between the two speakers. I prefer polk. Both are good entry level components.
