@Dan,

I didn’t mean any offence, so don't feel offended. What I wanted to tell is because of discounts depreciation is more and so is the resale value. My brother bought i10 Sportz last year at an OTR 4.98L. What is the 2009 model price, its almost 30 K less? So how will be the resale value? What will happen if the manufacturers are not consistent about the prices of the new models? The previous buyers feel cheated if the company reduces the price immediately, esp for the fast moving cars. If there is a price reduction due to govt tax/policy change is understandable. I'm not telling one should not reduce price. From a customer point of view, it’s a great news, but resale value will be def go for a toss. It's not tomato or airlines fares which are one time usage, car is an investment. You need to get best return while you change cars. I don’t think any serious customer will back off to another model just because of discounts. Yes if you consider cars like FMCG (Fast moving commodity Goods) obviously discounted products have attractions, thinking about current saving, but ignoring saving on a longer run.

And regarding Maruti, I think you are completely unaware about the market. Maruti is the only one company is having more than 20% YOY sales increase in all the months IN 2009. In July its 33% growth. Considering Maruti 44% of market share, the actual number are huge. Off course Maruti 800 is declining and new models are coming, so is the business. And dear friend, Alto is the top selling car in India. Search in carewale itself to get the statistcs. So you statement 'Retirement for Maruti' is from too much wild imagination.

i10 is a good car, and I personally use i10 and in my previous posts I already suggested i10 to many if they have preference for i10, as it's loaded with discounts.

Sumit - Why dont you try Santro ECO. It would cost you around 4lac budget. I purchased last month with good freebies like sunfilm , sony mp with speakers, leather seat covers, remote lock , under chassis paint during first service. This would give you an 13-15 kmpl in city and 16.8 and 18-19 highways (lpg and petrol respectively). Dont feel this is out dated model but think that this a proven and tested vehicle.

Hi All,

Sorry for being away for a long time, had gone out of town for company project.

Anyways, took TD of Punto looks quite stable and sturdy , as for TD of Ritz and i10 ...had scheduled one but had to fly before I could take it so will have it this saturday.

But heard a lot of mixed reviews on Punto's FE some tell its arnd 15-16 in city some say its arnd 10 , also some veteran drivers tell me that ur 1st car shld be a Maruti and so I shld go with Ritz.....

I've never been so confused in life.....

Hi All,

Did a TD of Ritz as well as i10 Sportz dis weekend back to back

well am not much of a driver, just learned to drive  a month back and the only car I had driven prior to them was the driving school esteem and all know how dat was Wink

both of them felt equally good to me in handling just i think Ritz was slightly upper on power and pick-up but not that much.whereas i10 looked kinda better on handling, but spacewise I think Ritz has an upper hand.

But I am getting a killer deal on i10 Magna : on-road is 4.6 i.e; 20k discount on that and  8.5 % Intrest on Loan Surprised for all 5 years !! and delivery in 8-10 days.

I think dey are being generous cos maybe dey want to phase i10 out cos of i20.

Whereas for Ritz its a waiting of 6 weeks on the petrol version and VXI comes for 4.8 On-Road and LXI is for 4.5 but too low for features, and as for finances dey'll help me procure SBI car loan

As for Punto 1.2 Active is 4.7 on-road with 11% interest rate on loan. still didn't get to do the TD and haven't even seen the car, have told my local dealer but he says I cant arrange for a 1.2 to test as I have only 1.4 @ showroom and I donn wanna book a car without actually seeing it.

I think its high time I decide and I am thinking of booking my car dis weekend.

Sumit, Wouls suggest you to try A-Star also. For the better mileage and leg space. One of my friend is driving this car and has recommended worth buying it.

As you have godd height, so this car has got enough head space as well.

Should also keep in mind A-Star also while finalising. In Mumbai you have to travel far being widely spread so you should go with the one which is sound for your pocket also..

Sumit, Fortune Powai has a 1.2 Active TD. Why don't you check that out. I am sure you will love this car.

Cheers,
Naveen
