Hi All,

I am planning to buy my first car, a hunchback

I am looking for cars in 4-4.7 lacs segment (On Road,Mumbai)

I have shortlisted on some models viz., Maruti A-Star VXi, Hyundai i10 Magna, Fiat Punto 1.2, Fial Palio 1.2 Stile (suggestions for any other)

I live in Mumbai Suburb and will use the car for recreational purpose not for office commuting, so my usage might be the most on wekends(40-50 km) and very few on weekdays.

While I have checked all of the above at showrooms,Punto was love @ first sight,a star looks easy on pocket(both buying and mileagewise) and i10 is the one wid max good reviews, but I know it takes a lot more than that to decide a car.

I want 15-17 city mileage, leg room(I am 5'8") and yes above all great after sales service and low maintenance.

Any kind of suggestion is welcome .

Thanks,

Sumit

Rule out Astar ...that will be very short on space...Hyundai i10 Magna looks the winner here.... Stile is not successful leave it ...you will get better options than that.

the best of the lot is i10. Prefer the i10 kappa 1.2. Its a better car than the 1.1 and has almost same FE figures too.

MODS-request you to move this thread to the relevant section.

Check i10 1.2 Magna Limited edition with alloy wheels, music system, fog lamp, seat cover, spoiler etc. i10 in city gives 13-14 in city with AC and 17-18 in Highway with AC.

Thanks a lot everyone for replying

Looks like, i10 really stand apart... and I wrongly typed my height its 5'10" Tongue out

I am still to get the on road price of i10 Magna whereas for A Start Vxi its 4.35 and Punto is 4.7

ppl also suggest me dat any Maruti car is tensionless as all spare parts, service centres etc. you'll find all over the city and country, so ideally your first car should be a Maruti

I have no clue about i10 service and maintenance

@ Centaur, my aplogies if posted in wring group, wht is the group for Car buying suggestions.

@ Sarkar I am looking forward to the i10 Kappa edition only lets hope its charged nominally and the on road price falls in my pocket datis 4.5 - 4.7 MAX

Any other suggestions in hunchback other than the three (like Chevrolet Spark or Aveo, Indica,Getz,Santro,RITZ and ya last but not the least Wagon R)

I guess you intend the UVA here as the aveo is a sedan.

if not i10 then the ritz would be the second best option followed by indica vista and spark. Ritz is good on space and also has a very good BS IV engine(K12B). Its spacious and roomy too. many people do not like the rear end looks but then that would differ from person to person. Vista is very good on space and has a decent performance. You can also consider the swift which has the best performance among the lot. very peppy. the only drawback would be space in the rear row. spark is also good but if you can go in for the ritz/i10 kappa better leave out the spark. I think the i10 kappa will be slightly out of budget. Have a llok at this comparision too.better take a test drive of the ritz/swift/i10 kappa/vista and then decide.

In Kolkata i10 1.2 Magna on road is 4.15L approx considering all discounts (25 thuosand). If you go for Sportz Model it will cost 25 thousadn more. For limited edition of magna you have to pay 45 thousand more. As far as spares and servicing is concern no doubt Maruti is the leader but Hyundai is also doing good business in India.

the punto 1.2 is the one that fits you budget but the 1.2 is not that great when compared to 1.4. Moreover if  you are planning to go in for a 1.2 then the i10 kappa will be much better choice. The ASS of hyundai is also better than FIAT. What you should look at when you buy a car is to get the maximum and the best in the minimum possible price. Have a look at this comparision. Also as mentioned earlier, take a test drive of the cars and then decide
