I bought a new Hondacity zx Gxi about 8 months ago and has done about 6500 km. Am Having a ticklish problem - There is small squeaky noise probably from steering whenever I start the vehicle after a few hours gap and the noise sustains for a say about 5 mins or so. After that the sound fades away. Got it checked by the dealer who claimed to have sorted it out but really hasn't. My three free services are over . Pl advise if this is a serious problem and how to go about fixing this. thanks

Welcome to CW!

This does not seem to be a serious problem. The steering boss might need to be reset. Also see if the plastic trim around the steering boss(the lower part of the wheel that turns) is rubbing around with the plastic trim on the steering colum.

Also is the sound only when turning the wheel-please elaborate.

Thanks Binoy for the reassuring post.

Ofcourse I need to understand the 'steering boss' part of it.

Will figure it out in discussion with the service dealer.

The sound (more like a mild groan) comes at cold atart and not limited to wheeel turning.

Binoy can it be a issue with engine's drive belt being loose ...as is seen in Tata Sumo etc ...??
