Yesterday I was lured by the discount being offered by Chevrolet people on Spark (40000/- plus corporate discount.) Eaerlier I had a plan to go for Vista Saffire, but because of arrogant attitude of Dealer at had decided not to go for it. Now my choice narrows down to A*, Spark and Wagon R. Can any one thorugh some light on Spark, its FE, Resale Value, Comfort etc. Last but not least, it's my first car purchase.

A-Star is quite small - not so spacious/comfortable.

Between Spark & WagonR...

WagonR is more airy & comfortable.  Spark has much better stability & road-grip. Both generally return mileage of 13-14 in city & 17-18 on highway (depending upon the driving conditions & style).

Resale of WagonR is much better.  In case of Spark, if you plan a long term ownership (5 years or more), you shouldn't be much concerned about it.  Service & maintenance will be better & lower in WagonR (Maruti factor).

Interiors/features would depend upon your budget - the versions you compare - depending upon your budget.  Spark offers better discounts of approx. 40-45K including 3-year maintenance package (I understand) - while WagonR offers 30-35K.

Test-drive the cars (with family).

Honesty is not a Spare Wheel that you pull out when in trouble. It's a Steering Wheel that keeps you on the right path throughout the life's journey.

Hi,

As mentioned by Pankaj, though A-star is having good size from outside, its very crampy from inside. So, rule out A-star if possible (Personal Choice matters).

Between Spark & Wagon-r (I used both) I will suggest you Spark for Better FE, Value For Money & quality. Wagon-r is tall but there is not much difference in actual sitting space. Test drive and feel in which you are more comfortable and ask your family members about Rear seat comfort. Feeling inside the car (though personal) is better in Spark. Interiors are cool specially centre console. Now its available with beige interiors.

From Spark(14kmpl) I am getting atleast 2kmpl more than what I was getting from Wagon-r(12kmpl). Compare Spark LT with Wagon-r Vxi and see features in both the cars. Since November 07 I am using Spark without any problem and specially I am very happy with the maintenance cost which is cheap not high at all. Though presently GM is offering Cashless Service for next 3 years/45000 kms and nothing is better than that, you need to pay the fuel bills only for next 3 years.

As far as Resale is concern, Spark actually is a successful car from GM and I checked used car value tool (Spark LT & Wagon-r Vxi) with similar running and same city method and Difference is around 16k only.

Test-drive both the Cars with family.

People dont change when you tell them that there is a Better option... They change when they realise that there is No Other Option..

Shekhar, the space in wagon-r is mainly in the vertical direction. So if you are unusually tall, and therefore cannot use anything squat, go for WagonR. But if you are considering A* and Spark too, I guss you own height is not a factor.

Therefore, unless you have some compelling reason to go for the perceived 'spaciousness' of WagonR, Spark should be the choice.

Other factors well covered, as usual, by the experts above. All the best!

Today I had enquired with Vitesse a Maruti  Dealer. I was told that company has withdrawn Estilo from market. It is coming with new model of Estilo. Whther is same thing true with Wagon-R. Huge discount being offered on Estilo and Wagon-r was only to clear stock.
